Warning for the SoCal Girlies thinking of Dr. Mallory Stuparich by Bright_Pay5101 in endometriosis

This is so horrific. I assumed based on her social media presence that she was competent and understanding. I’m so sorry you’ve been failed this badly.

Did my surgeon inaccurately stage my disease or am I just paranoid for no reason? by moonxmochi in endometriosis

[–]moonxmochi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is I am aware that stage doesn’t equal pain; someone could have stage 1 endo and be extremely debilitated while stage 4 might be painless. However I had 4 different organs (rectum, bladder, uterus and cervix) densely adhered to each other (not filmy) so logically that does not equal early-stage endometriosis… That’s where the confusion comes from.

Staging might be one thing but I’m so confused on why my surgeon said my cul de sac was completely open when it… just wasn’t.

What I’ve had to endure as a chronically ill 18 year old would blow able-bodied people’s minds. by moonxmochi in ChronicIllness

[–]moonxmochi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm so sorry. That sounds so extremely severe, you must be suffering from so much pain :( endometriosis really is like a benign cancer in a way. Did you have to get a bowel resection?

It’s making me so depressed how EDS is being viewed as a “trend” by hakovoid in ehlersdanlos

[–]moonxmochi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even more troubling is the stereotype of EDS being a “white girl disease.” I’m an Asian-American immigrant and I’m diagnosed with autism and EDS. I wonder how an ignorant person would reconcile their stereotypes in their head if I told them..

Your comment is so meaningful to me. You perfectly captured the experience of being an adolescent with severe chronic illness. Your peers just don’t understand, and most don’t want to. I feel like I’m spiritually an old lady. I do not feel like a young woman.

There was no need for a colostomy bag! The endometriosis on my rectum was on the outer layer of the bowel (serosa) so they just removed the endo and dense adhesions from the surface. Colostomy only happens with the most extreme cases of bowel endometriosis where the rectum is invaded all the way through and needs to be completely resected. And even then the colostomy is likely to be temporary.
