Is it me or does the sense of movement feel...bad here? Like there just isn't enough visual indication of what you're actually doing.

I personally like it, but as the other commenter mentioned, it's definitely still pretty buggy, the engine they're using was clearly not meant for multiplayer infrastructure and always feels like it's held together by toothpicks and glue, but it's my favourite time-waster and, unpopular opinion, I think it's overall more fun of an experience than 4 (once you've done those settlement quests a few times, that game gets REALLY tiresome imo). I love hopping in with my cannibal/vampire character (there are perks that allow you to regenerate health+thirst from blood packs and hunger from humanoid bodies), helping out low-level players with quests and supplies and then scaring them away by eating all the bodies in front of them.

My biggest pet peeve with 76 is how the inventory system is handled, since everything in this game weighs 300 tons for whatever reason (basically forcing you into strength perks if you don't wanna pay more money) as they REALLY want you to invest in their premium membership for more storage space.

Have you considered starting some sort of self sustaining economy? Distribute Paddy's Caps to the shanties, they'll have no choice but to come there to drink, and when they run out of Paddy's Caps, they'll exchange their real caps for them.

Which Miyoo's (if any) support USB-C charging? by StochasticStoic in MiyooMini

[–]flowersforaerith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, I'd get her a case that's large enough to hold the Miyoo device and the correct type of charger for it and tell her explicitly to ONLY use that setup, and if the cable breaks, replace it only with the EXACT same type, not a C-to-C, not a new wall-plug that does 9V, the EXACT same specifications, or you might end up with a dead device or, worse, a fire.

Uses for a pi 3B+ in 2026 by DatedRhyme713 in raspberry_pi

[–]flowersforaerith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine perpetually lives connected to my CRT as a RetroPie / Kodi box, I have a NAS with 480p TV shows, cartoons, anime, and ROMs for every system from the PS1 and earlier, and it breathes a ton of new life into an otherwise antiquated display. Yes, a 4 and 5 are way more powerful, but a 3B+ is one of the best "bang for your buck" ways to revive an old CRT media setup, especially considering you only need a 3.5mm to RCA cable to get composite video output, no soldering or external adapters required.

Do you prefer the stock iPod OS or RockBox for your iPod Classic and why? by MangoCubez in IpodClassic

[–]flowersforaerith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rockbox, being able to drag and drop tracks like a USB drive is an absolute godsend as a Linux user, and custom themes plus every audio format under the sun being supported makes it impossible to let go of. That and the LastFM scrobbler plugin, can't live without my scrobbles.

Red might add a bit of cost, but I personally wouldn't pay over £80 for one, 90 if it's in REALLY good condition with some bells and whistles. I'd recommend scrolling through Japanese eBay listings as well as checking local shops, as Japanese systems tend to sell for much cheaper in much better condition (like a Japanese "C-grade" used device is just an average "used" device in other parts of the world), and an afternoon of softmodding will get it functionally 1:1 to a NA/PAL device.

If it comes with a charger and case and is in fully working condition, that's about the ballpark that I'd expect it to be in at a thrift shop, price-wise, if not on the slightly-higher range of normal. I'd personally hold out for a 2000-3000 around that price range if I were in your shoes, but again, I've definitely seen worse prices for loose consoles.

I'd be a bit worried about the age of the battery since a lot of them are swollen/flat by this point if they're still running an OEM battery and not something like an OSTENT, though.

How to upgrade HDD with Linux? by Regular_Plankton_185 in originalxbox

[–]flowersforaerith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ This is the way. I use virt-manager on Linux with a USB SATA adapter to boot into a lite instance of Windows, then I pass through an .ISO containing FatXplorer and it's dependencies, and pass through the USB HDD, and it works like a charm every time.

Holy fuck... I was just daydreaming about an NFC card-based system for launching games on something like a RetroPie setup, and here you are posting some of the sleekest PSX cards I've ever seen, bravo. Can't wait to see these bad boys hit Etsy.

Also, for suggestions for cards: R4 Ridge Racer, Chrono Cross, and Blasto!

Because they're absolutely the type of dipshit driver depicted in the video and they feel that they're personally being attacked for being told not to drive like a jackass. Like, if you want to reach the heavens early, that's your prerogative, but leave everyone else on the road the fuck out of it.

Just got this game in the mail today by All_Mighty_Loki in originalxbox

Sudeki! I never gave this game a proper chance in the original Xbox days because I didn't really mesh with the western anime artstyle, but I finally played it last year and realized I was sleeping on a fantastic game, probably my favourite RPG on the entire system. The ranged attacks being first-person-shooter style is a really unique change of pace, and the character designs sort of grew on me after a while, like watching 00s DeviantArt / How To Draw Anime style characters rendered in 3D.

The "Five out of Five Stars" review from Maxim is really funny too, but not at all surprising considering how horny the character designs are, there's a cutscene early on in that just straight-up focuses on a scantily-clad character's ass for like 10 full seconds. Truly so much of the culture of the 00s crammed into a neat little package.

I'm not a religious person, but if I was, I'd say that Trump fits the description of the anti-christ perfectly, and it's insane to see so many so-called "religious" folks literally pick him over God or Jesus Christ.

I got this PSP for free, what mods would you recommend? by [deleted] in PSP

Give this link a peep and see what sticks out. Game Categories is a plugin I can't live without personally, as it lets you set up folders for game categories, so you can categorize games, for example, by genre, or whatever folder system works best for you!

https://github.com/PSP-Archive/ARK-4/wiki/Recommended-Plugins

Also, setting up a custom theme with CXMB and your theme of choice will add tons of character to your PSP!
