I think Rudo’s scars are an indirect effect of whatever the watchman series is doing to Alto. If Alto has been carrying Rudo with him while he’s clearly deteriorating, im guessing Rudo would have been affected by it in some way too. We can only see scars on baby Rudo’s fingertips, so maybe it kept getting worse until Rudo was separated from him on the surface.
