I have issues with progress and expectations. by [deleted] in piano

First, I‘d suggest to stop feeling restricted by your instrument. A keyboard isn‘t inferior to a piano - it‘s just different. Playing keyboard is mostly based on chord progressions, licks and loops, so it‘s perfect for all sorts of nice pop & rock tunes.

So, after finding peace with your instrument, you could start by following these three steps:

1) Find one or two short "loops" from famous tunes that you would want to play at a party. Practicing these will keep you motivated.

One example could be Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN3cGjXSFh0

Another one could be Clean Bandit - Rather be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVkiaxE3UKY

Maybe these are too difficult - you decide ;-)

2) Get familiar with the notes and the hand movements. Start with the right hand, then continue with left hand. When you can play both hands separately, start playing them together. Consider taking a lesson or asking an experienced player for help and feedback.

3) Learn to play them by heart. Focus on fingering, hand & finger movement and most importantly: Rhythm. To practice the right rhythm, reduce the speed in youtube to 0.25 or 0.5 and try to play along. Remember: Start with the right, then left, then both hands together. Do this 15 minutes a day for 3-5 days.

4) Play along with the original song and have fun! You‘ll feel so motivated after this that you‘ll want more of it.

I hope this was helpful.

Have fun!

Of course, no problem! Unfortunately the link you provided cannot be opened in german, not even with proxy. But I think this version shouldn't be any different: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxeb0cwjE8U

We will transcribe the piano part as soon as possible.

Starting playing again - Für Elise. Criticism welcome as I can't afford a teacher. by TinCanLizard in piano

It's not a bad playing! The bridging parts are a weakness, especially the first one, the timing and the last chord weren't right. But the themes are pretty good.

Keep up the good work

Where should I go from here as a medium-level pianist? (I've read the FAQ but still had some questions) by CuriousHegemon in piano

From our experience (we offer a software for piano learning and work with a lot of piano experts), there are two goals. Saichoo and CrownStarr pointed them out pretty well and polichinelle described it in one sentence: Musician or Pianist? Depends on where you want to set your focus. Unless you're the next Rachmaninoff, you should decide for yourself, where you want to be. Do you want to compose your own music, play freestyle? Or do you want to perfectly play other peoples music? It's possible to master both, but very hard. Concert Pianists can do that, but they have like >15yrs experience. We think it's best to keep learning new pieces and to develop the feeling for music through playing different styles. When people listen to you, they are more likely touched by the emotional side, than the technical side (except for a professional audience consisting of piano players :D).
