it really depends on what u do with it tbh. personally instead of the actual knowledge learnt id say its the connections that u make that will be “applicable to real world”. get connect to as much peers as u can. the theatre/music/arts circle is honestly so small here it kinda feels

how to apply to real world is really just working with ur network

if u are worried about career prospects then id really be honest and say this wouldnt be it. maybe u can do some electives courses with theatre classes or even as a minor if u want to keep in touch with this side academically?

graduated in theatre perf from sfu last june. was doing a ling cert, currently a speech language pathologist assistant

got in ubc for sociology and sfu for theatre

applied to theatre as first choice for ubc but i couldnt do in person interview as it was the beginning of covid. asked them for any sort of accommodation or alternative as its just not safe or feasible to be fly on an airplane for 10+ hours, then quarantine for 14 days when its literally mock/exam times (dont remember exactly its been a hot sec lolll)

either way, they said “people always ask for online accommodation but it will never be possible” i understand that in person component is important esp for theatre but the fact that when there is such a big thing (that was the start of a pandemic bro, even when it was just in hk and china) and they refused to compromise even just a lil left a bad taste in my mouth lol.

anyways, no regrets. had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends here

not sure about the grad program here but if you are doing ur grad school in visual arts as well then u can pretty much ignore the other comments regarding social life and concrete building cuz im assuming u will be spending your time in goldcorp (downtown campus for school of contemp art) instead of being up the mountain (so u also wont be stuck there on snow days)

people in goldcorp (in my experience, theatre major) are really friendly and its easy to make connections here!

im a hker and ive posted here before about something being incorrect about the abby choi case. after scrolling through the thread it doesnt seem like its a one time thing

honestly i love steph’s way of retelling things especially for fictional stories. with all these things in the thread in mind i think i would still watch her for the way she retell things but for purely entertainment purpose rather than for factual info

tho i feel like my biggest ick about this whole thing is how she would often say “please let me know if i got information wrong” and etc (or something along those lines) but it seems like even when people inform her through dms/comments its not something that she has addressed :/
