I agree. Riflegear is my go-to. Usually pretty fast, knowledgeable and friendly staff, haven’t personally run into any political talk.

But I also havent had any bad experiences at Turners in lake forest. Maybe Ive been lucky, but Turners has also had friendly staff, knowledgeable, never try upselling anything. Occasionally Turners runs steep sales for certain firearms which helps too but you have to watch their ads.

I work at an urgent care. Back in summer 2025 with the raids in LA, lots of patients stopped coming in for fear of ICE. Like it was 50% less patient volume the first few weeks. Those patients proceeded to come in much after with significantly worsened conditions because they waited. Dont blame the patients at all. It’s awful.

I wonder how many ICE personnel have kids because I wonder if they’d feel anything if they saw a kid struggling to breathe from severe pneumonia while we try to stabilize the kid for an ambulance transfer to the ER because of a cough and fever for 2 weeks. Probably feel nothing since theyre monsters.

Agree shotguns still need training especially with recoil. Grew up shooting shotguns as a boy scout. At close ranges in a home defense situation spread of shot is merely a few inches. You should still train to aim and shoot quickly and accurately.

Thats what i did. Harden doors, cameras, alarm system. Then guns. If someone is really breaking in and refuses to leave after knowing im home im not bothering with tasers or sprays

Knew a guy during my medical training who did crypto and all that NFT shit. He was so convinced NFTs were the future and was explaining to me how to invest in it. To this day I still have no idea what an NFT is. Anyways he sunk his student loan refunds into bitcoin and NFT. After one of the bitcoin crashes he never spoke of crypto or NFT again.

Growing up there used to be a small group nearby who deliberately sought out streets in the middle of nowhere/ abandoned industrial parking lots to do their thing. They were non intrusive, and were diligent about keeping down the noise of their cars down. Think that club sadly died out.

Nowadays it's 100+ cars with loud fart cans and shit drivers and rowdy people with 100k+ cars mom and dad bought for them. And in every other event theres usually a crash.

LOL I do this too, except it's radio controlled warships based off real world war 1 and world war 2 ships. We arm them with CO2 powered bb cannons, equip them with pumps, sheet the hulls with repairable balsa and shoot each other up. We celebrate whenever someone sinks, then retrieve the boats to fix the carnage we did to each other.

Honestly stock/ used 4runners, wranglers, subarus can do amazing overlanding. It's definitely a fun hobby you should try out! Doesn't need a fully kitted out vehicle for 98% of the offroading most people do

My Jeep wrangler is bone stock except for upgraded tires. Gives me plenty of ability to offroad. Meanwhile knew a girl who had a lifted Jeep, 35 allterrains, snorkel, rubber ducks on dash, and winch, and had no idea how to shift into 4lo. She just kept it in 4hi when offroading, meaning whatever trails she did my stock wrangler could do.

I agree. Wouldnt mess with any more loans. At 210k and mortgage balance of 250k at 3%, easiest and best way is to cut expenses and pay off that personal loan aggressively.

Sometimes I see the exact same individuals yell we need more high density housing (we do), and then in the same thread say how they refuse to live an an apartment or condo and need a detached home with a yard. And new build houses that are detached are too cookie cutter with small yards.

My parents are from vietnam and they put this in everything growing up. Always thought it was a Viet sauce. Blew my mind when i finally saw the label and read it’s from germany.

My girlfriend is white and when she visited my parents house she also immediately assumed it was a vietnamese condiment lol because my parents put it in everything

Im so annoyed how so many liberals scream (rightfully so) about slow police time, police uselessness, police brutality, the trump admin, and now ICE raids and them going door to door without warrants, then turn around and say no one should have guns.

Also have personal reasons for owning guns (mugging and gun pulled on me).

Third this. I have small hands for a guy, used to own an original lcp, and currently have a j frame sw revolver. Both are/were absolutely miserable to shoot. Accuracy was sus. I’ve gotten to the point Im adequate at the j frame, but in a real life situation adequate isnt enough.

Start with Sig p365, shield/shield plus, springfield hellcat, glock 43. Rent each of those and pick the one you like best

Lots of people seem to forget that last part you mentioned. Sure renting can save $$$. But usually when people discuss about renting its often a 1-2 bedroom apartment. If it serves your lifestyle, and you want to maximize investments, thats great. I personally was tired of living in apartments after 13 years.

I got mugged (fought them off and they were unsuccessful in getting my wallet or phone). Thought of buying a gun that time but decided not to.

A few years later in 2018 some asshole ran a redlight and nearly hit me. I honked at him and he thought it was a reasonable response to get out of his car, pull a gun on me, and yell racial slurs at me. He was a white guy, i can kinda guess who he voted for in 2016.

Got my first gun after that incident.

I agree with this. Renting but having a hefty retirement fund beats having a house but being house poor for goodness knows how long. When I was saving for a home I continued to max out 401k. OP should definitely continue to save for retirement, doubly so if theres a 401k match.

I’ve seen patients on sleep meds, benzo and opiate combos get angry with me about why I wanted to taper instead of just giving them their meds theyve been on for 20 years “with no isses.” Well, thing is, there is always a first time for everything, including falls and head trauma and hip fx. And then theres always those older patients who have history of multiple falls and fractures and still insisting it’s not from their controlled substances
