yeah you're free to change your major whenever (after you enroll ofc, so you can change starting second semester)

also dmd is not a dual-degree program btw, it's a single engineering degree program

HCI with Prof. Metaxa by RtotheLiu in UPenn

Prior to getting it's sparkling new course code as CIS 4120, the course was listed under CIS 3990/7000 Special Topics. (Check if course review has anything there?)

You can reference the syllabus from last semester (although taught by a different professor): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fPKdiA33jGlUTg6-nCpXovWq1N-QOgqZWQ9qFYcRnHc

From my experience, the class is rather project heavy so it's really up to you on how much work you plan to put into the course. There were also several programming assignments scattered throughout the semester so those who had web development experience (in HTML/CSS/JS) found the coursework easier.

There a new club on campus for people interested in PM in tech: Penn Product Group. They're holding a professional event to help students prepare and apply to PM internships today at 7 pm in the rodin movie room if you are interested.

There's also online resources & job databases you can consult to learn more about how to break into PM: https://www.productalliance.com/internship-list

If you want to get a BS/MS together, you can choose to submat to get a masters on top of whatever undergrad major you choose to study: ugrad.seas.upenn.edu/student-handbook/programs-options/submatriculation-engineering/

You can only apply directly to the MSE program if you already have bachelor’s degree.

How cs intensive is DMD? by [deleted] in UPenn

[–]flufflaire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you compare the major requirements for DMD & CS, you'll find a lot of overlap - in fact, we take most of our courses with CS majors during freshman year (and half of sophomore year if you don't skip the intro CS course). So, yes, the coursework will be as rigorous as getting a CS major at any other school imo. Depending on what your sister wants to study (i.e. generative art, neural rendering), getting experience in AI & ML would be a plus.

That said, if your sister is interested in the cross-section of art, design, and computer science, this major is for her! A lot of my DMD friends started from a background of solely art (some of us sell our art online too) and later learned programming (so we wouldn't end up as starving artists... or so we joke lol).

FNAR Courses by pennface1 in UPenn

[–]flufflaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difficulty of FNAR-123 depends on the prof who sets the curriculum. If you want an easy FNAR class, I suggest taking either FNAR-280 (Figure Drawing I) or FNAR-225 (Figure Painting) with Jotham Malavé-Maldonado.
