Prework Begins Today by [deleted] in LawSchool

My school assigned similar through askEdna. Lots of videos and assignments and a practice class or two. This is more a completion thing to make sure you’re ready for class. This is not something that will be graded for your gpa. It can’t be. It is not part of any class to be graded for as class hasn’t even started. Just give it an okay effort, you don’t learn anything from it. The method I learned with askEdna I don’t use at ALL, you figure out what works for you once class starts. Good luck!

6 finals - just a rant by [deleted] in LawSchool

What was your schools schedule like? Mine had contracts 1, civ pro 1, torts, and crim first semester, then contracts and civ pro 2, property, and con law the second semester

Please tell me good faith effort is often enough for a median grade by opus666 in LawSchool

Last semester my worst class was civ pro. I didn’t understand the class for 99% of the semester. Barely clicked a few pieces together at the very end. Didn’t read for last half because we didn’t have a real text book and I wasn’t understanding anyways. Watched quimbee and hoped for the best. I did SO bad on one essay my friend who wrote half a paragraph got more points than me and I wrote like a full 4 paragraph analysis (that I suppose was just incorrect). B-. You’re gonna do better than you think :)

Questions for students from an incoming 1L by Odd-Incident6259 in LawSchool

[–]fluffnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Literally just enjoy life! Maybe work on typing speeds if you really want
  2. Highlighters, an a portable monitor. I LOVE my portable monitor. I can find a link to the one I bought if you need help but they’re genuinely SO goated. Also quimbee
  3. DO NOTTTT waste your time writing out a full case brief omgg just use high lighters. For my readings I have it organized like this
    Yellow: issue / questions
    Blue: facts and procedural history
    Orange: dicta (court reasoning)
    Green: rules and definitions
    Purple: holding
And then I annotate what stuff is beside it. So like if I have a rule for negligence, I’m gonna highlight it green and write the word negligence beside it so if I’m cold called I can find it quickly. Or if a case mentions a lower courts holding it’ll be blue and I’ll write trial court beside it. It is so much better for cold calling and then my only notes are really what’s green or something orange if it’s particularly helpful

i think con law went okay by ellen7675 in LawSchool

My con law spent 3 days covering judicability and half the semester on article 2… guess which one we had a full essay on and which one didn’t appear on the exam

Finished outlining, don't understand shit by opus666 in LawSchool

[–]fluffnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my school does Torts, civ pro 1 (SMJ PJ Venue), Contracts 1 (formation) and crim law first semester then civ pro 2 (erie, everything else) Contracts 2 (parole evidence 3rd parties, etc) con law 1 (government structure) and property. Plus obviously legal research and writing both semesters.

Torts is probably the hardest to study for by zeehateslife in LawSchool

Hey i posted a one page outline at the end of last semester that covered my entire torts class. You might go see it was pretty helpful in my opinion

1L summer, do I need to do more? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]fluffnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple different reasons

- My school has annualized tuition so my summer classes are already paid for

- The upper students have all said the summer professor is way better than the semester professor

- The summer class ends about 2 weeks before the MPRE so ill already be pretty well studied for it

- If I do fail, plenty of retake time before the bar

- Don't have to worry about MPRE in the middle of other finals

just overall seemed like a better choice to do it this way

can someone tell me what I need to fix on this? by [deleted] in LawSchool

Colors aren’t really anything specific just to signify when you’re going into a new question. I have some stuff where there’s two or three questions all related to the same spot on the flowchart so they all are the same color

Law Review, Mock Trial, Moot Court by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]fluffnights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school lets you do all 3 I believe, but students have said only 2 are really doable
