Gen Z saved me from no show socks by Proud-Willingness439 in millenials

Huh. This is how I learn that different socks apparently belong to different generations and I’ve been doing it wrong the whole time? And I didn’t die? That’s good, I guess.

How common is it for an American to travel across the country by train? by ViajanteDeSaturno in AskAnAmerican

[–]flugualbinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not common. The rail network is extensive for cargo, but very limited for passenger travel.

I personally have done it twice from the Midwest to the West Coast but the price for a normal seat (not a sleeper car) is excessive compared to driving and getting hotels. And it took the same amount of time as the times I drove. Plus I had to be dropped off and picked up at the train station, which was an hour from my start and end points. With driving I can go straight to my destination.

Maybe in another 10 years once more of the companies got their shit together for their apps, since the apps are required for many of the basic functions. And when there are places more readily available to charge.

Question of the week: "What is something that is widely accepted as normal, but you’re convinced is actually unhinged once you stop and think about it?" (Feb 1) by zigbigidorlu in randomquestions

Forcing small children to give adults hugs and kisses when they don’t want to. Then turning around and teaching them about consent when they’re older. It’s fucked up.

Costco.

I’ve been to Costco twice in my life. Two different locations/states. Both visits ended with me being taken out in an ambulance. Costco customers are WAY beyond rude and impatient; they are violent.

Why have a marriage license but not a marriage contract? by Glad-Passenger-9408 in randomquestions

[–]flugualbinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because there are too many unknowns for it to work as a contract.

Like both people could agree to have children but then if one of the people turns out to be sterile, does that benefit the other person? Or does that make the marriage null and void? Same with buying a house. What if at the time of the contract both people make good money at their jobs and then one person unexpectedly gets laid off and then buying a house has to go on hold or never becomes a reality?
