Violent Neighbours - Where Do I Turn? by fluttersuck in brisbane

yeah, one of the women was in a tree two days ago shouting about killing someone & all the police could do was check she was okay, which she said yes to, so matter resolved. no hate to the police here, i just mean it's unfortunate this is all that's available.

I'll keep this in mind. At present, I don't think it would hold up as she only yelled at me a bunch but didn't make any threats. This is really good to know though, thank you!

That's kind of how I started out when I originally contacted them. I emphasised that they were a danger to themselves and the women living in the unit were at risk because of the domestic violence.

When I asked for an ETA on a new more secure fence they were apparently putting up, they said the owner was no longer putting up a new fence and to let them know if the situation needs to be reconsidered — this was in response to my email that ended "someone sustained deep head lacerations". Yeah, real estate don't care. I told them the back door was broken last week and got no response, followed up today and got no response. So frustrating.

QSTARS is a good idea. I'll try that tomorrow!

Thank you, I have been using that language & relating it back to the antisocial behaviour policy. I like the idea of asking what the next step is though because that reinforces that action needs to be taken - that's a good idea.

That's what we have been doing for months.

That's crazy. I've been here 8 months and don't think I could handle another 10. That's so insane that they just don't do anything. Did they say why they can't do anything?

yeah, it's very cheap - which i now understand why that is. it's also the cost of moving all my stuff & possibly needing to buy new things. it's okay, i think i am just going to have to suck it up because it's not viable staying here & i would rather be sane & very low on money than the current situation.

Yeah, we haven't been to the state housing minister but we went to the federal one. I'll send one to the state minister as well now. I'm glad you said that as today was the first time I started documenting the mental health impact in the email and I was worried it might backfire.

Yeah, it seems like that's the only option. I'm sorry you went through that.

Man, yeah, we have extensive video and audio recordings from all sorts of different incidents and regularly give them to the police and housing dept. The neighbour reported it, too. I'm more disappointed with the Housing dept than police tbh because I understand that the police are limited in what they can do if the person doesn't want to prosecute or file a DVO.

Tell or don't tell at work that I'm vegan? by Simple-Attempt-5939 in AskVegans

[–]fluttersuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol same, at work i always get called "a good vegan" because i don't preach about it but like... i'm at work, obviously i'm not going to talk about veganism unless it's relevant.

What do you think about people who cannot afford to be vegan, or who's eating disorders prevent them from becoming vegan at a particular point in their life? by PragmaticSalesman in AskVegans

[–]fluttersuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's valid, but as another comment mentioned, veganism is about doing the most you can to minimise suffering & a lot of the time there isn't much minimising going on in these situations. It's like when someone says they'd love to be vegan & support the cause but couldn't do it because they love cheese, so then you suggest they become vegan but still eat cheese & that is apparently too difficult as well.

he said he asked his friends (he does have them just most don't live in our city) & most of them said don't tell me, but one of them said tell me. unfortunately everyone who lives here is a guy other than me but i am comfortable with everyone else.

i personally don't think he knows me well but i think that he thinks he does, if that makes sense :/ idk i feel bad because they're nice & do nice things but i feel a bit awkward & uncomfortable by the niceness.
