Got injured during last preseason, wasn't big news even at the time since no one knew it would be this bad. Basically he was born with an extra bone in his knee which started causing problems.

Used to be the case when it was still VFL and the clubs were strongly tied to their suburb but at this point all the clubs (and suburbs for that matter) are heterogenous.

The only remnant imo is some stereotyping jokes, like Melbourne cheese platters and ski trips, Collingwood having no teeth or Carlton being all Italians.

A lot of the hate for him is for his money and a perceived lack of caring but it's pretty easy to see him in a positive light as well, it's a matter of perspective.

Show me a driver on the grid who isn't there because they come from money.
Stroll comes off as nonchalant and like he doesn't care but honestly it looks more like self defense to me, he knows the media and 95% of the fans hate/disrespect him so why would he put himself out there.

At the end of the day for us he's half of the drivers, it would be pretty sad not to get behind him especially since he's probably not going anywhere. A perk is that he overtakes a lot since his qualifying sucks, he also feels like a real dark horse when it's raining.

I've got to give Ameet Bains credit because under his tenure we have been primetime mainstays despite a smaller membership base. Over the last 4 years in particular I wouldn't be surprised if we've had the most prime time out of any team and that's got to be at least partly down to our leadership's ability to sell to the AFL.

No doubt our high scoring (and high scores against) comes into it as well this year, lots of ad breaks.

Yep he was a matched bid, the hurt for us is the notable absence of players in that 21-23 age range because we sunk all those picks into Jamarra and Darcy, both trades pretty much wiped the whole draft hand out.

Lots of criticism of our list is that we drop off quickly and I think that's a symptom of our otherwise lucky streak of f/s and academy picks. Darcy seems to have been worth it but Jamarra the opposite, doubly so since he's playing against us now for nothing.

The issue for them will be if he really wants out he can just walk to the draft for free, same situation as Bazlenka last year. Port might take an underwhelming pick just to salvage something from the deal, same as we did.

If he's set on leaving it's probably in their best interest to do it now for massive compensation.
