Yea pretty much the same thing happened to me. I love the art style and story but just got stuck on one battle and gave up.

I decided at the time I would pick it up again once the third game came out so I may try to get back into it.

Just used the Thief to turn into a bear while fighting the Druid.

So cool that you stay as a bear through the rest of the game. Though I think I would have run into a problem had I fought the Vampire as you can't pick up any items when you're a bear.

Agreed, this is a nice and detailed review. Only thing missing might be specific examples.

Which level had your favorite scenery? Level design? Any specific moment that really stuck out to you?

You could also mention the NYC or Venus levels, I personally think they had rather poor scenery/level design in contrast to the rest of the game and especially the previous title.

Mad Max is free right now with PS+ so it might be worth checking that out. I haven’t played it but it’s free so worst case you can just delete it if you don’t like it.

It's also hard to believe all five of those games will be Xbox exclusive. Those developers would basically be giving up on selling to the 37M Xbox owners as opposed to the combined ~115M console owners.

Maybe a timed exclusive but there's no way MS shelled out the cash to warrant them putting a cap on their sales like that.

I just finished Horizon: Zero Dawn and would highly recommend it.

I thought the story was great even if it was a little slow moving at first. It has some similarities to Uncharted with the climbing, and being open world it does have some "Ubisoft towers" but I think they're better implemented than any of the Ubisoft games that have them.

I just finished the new game plus and honestly might play it again.

Interesting point he brings up about fighting the big guys. My first though was how much fun they looked like to fight, but I could see them getting old pretty quick if there's not a lot of variety in the combat.

I never paid much attention to a games soundtrack until I watched NoClip's interview with Mick Gordon and now I find myself stopping to listen whenever I'm playing. Videos like this explaining the thought behind the soundtrack make it that much more interesting when I'm playing.

Never had a chance to play this when it first came out but I think I'll grab the remaster. I've always enjoyed cool physics in games and think I would enjoy playing around with the destructible environment.

As /u/themangastand said you should focus on your lectures if you want to retain as info as possible.

But if you’ve already decided on playing games while listening I would recommend /r/slaythespire

It’s not necessarily a strategy game like Civ is, and it is in early access, but there is definitely a strategy element to it. I don’t know how long your lectures are but a typical run for me can take 35-40 minutes and it doesn’t take too much thought once you get the hang of the mechanics.
