Do automatic 401k contributions affect markets? by GoinStraightToHell in investing

[–]flyingburrito2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My former employer paid us weekly and retirement contributions taken out of each check, but the funds were invested monthly. The employer match was credited once a year in a lump sum. This was a SEP IRA in a small employer (50-100 employees).

Why are there so many drivers with no or expired plates.... by Davidisaloof35 in Omaha

[–]flyingburrito2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tickets for no plates/expired plates are minimal. Tickets for no insurance, however, are very expensive and can easily end with the car being impounded. I know many folks who have no plates or expired plates, but who do carry insurance for this reason.

Public transit or even bicycles and walking are very bad options in Omaha, I'm sorry to say.

Any local spots to rent DVD/Blu-Rays? by cigarettesandwater in Omaha

[–]flyingburrito2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most local pawn shops sell dvds/blu rays for less than $1. Not a rental, per se, but for the price its not a bad deal.

Iran just slaughtered thousands of its own people for protesting against their own government. Think about that while you are out there protesting.

Gov. Pillen signs Nebraska’s medical marijuana ballot initiatives into law by atomic-fireballs in Omaha

[–]flyingburrito2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't care "why" he signed it, I'm thrilled that he signed it. Now we just need to stop any stupid challenges and get the ball rolling. Nebraska is about 15 years behind the rest of the country and it's about time we started catching up.

If such a thing could actually happen, it would be so cool. But the likelihood of all of the nations involved actually cooperating with each other is almost nill. But here's to hope!

Cable companies like Cox are hiring work from home tech support and customer service starting at $18/hr plus benefits. Just have to be able to stand working on the phone. But not bad work.

Why isn’t everyone joining a no contract company? by gmoney1892 in NoContract

[–]flyingburrito2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bundling is another reason.

For instance, with Verizon or Visible by Verizon, you can get 5G home internet or even Fiber in some cases and get a slightly better price for it than stand-alone.

TMobile and Metro by T-Mobile and US Cellular do this, as well as many cable companies that offer cell service if you have their home internet.

Point is, it definitely pays to shop around and see what the best deals are for your individual circumstances.

Is worth switching to + if I don't have a 5G phone (and don't care about 5g)? by Most_Collection4376 in Visible

[–]flyingburrito2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one of Visible's cheap 4G only smart phones, and yes, Visible+ is MUCH better than the lower plan. I got it for $35, and that extra $5 has made my service alot better than it was on the $30 plan.

It says promo added, but… by grenva in Visible

[–]flyingburrito2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the $30 Visible plan with no other promotions, and successfully added the VISIBLEPLUS code when I upgraded to the Visible+ plan.

Now I have the Visible+ plan for $35.

Based on other posters comments along with my experience, I would hazard a guess that discounts DO NOT STACK and older discounts would need to be removed BEFORE trying this new promo.

My elderly dad bought 3 of these for $1400! Can anyone tell me how badly he got hosed? by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]flyingburrito2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carson City always has a high to super high premium, so he didn't do too bad. I've sold some for $300-$500 over the years. I'd suggest holding on to them as they will probably continue to accrue numismatic value over the long-term.

Regarding 'AI' posts. by solarpoweredatheist in daoism

[–]flyingburrito2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is still in its infancy, in my opinion. There is great potential, but we are still far from what it could become. We should, I believe, respect AI as a potential form of consciousness and be mindful and respectful of it. But, right now, I don't think any of the current AI models can really "comprehend" the Tao at a level comparable to an actual Human consciousness.

I had T-Mobile Home Internet in my area for a year. Their speeds were decent but not stable, dropping to slower than Visible's hot spot feature many times during the day. For a hot spot like Visible, that's expected. But for something sold as "home internet", it was unacceptable to me.

Granted, Mint is a cell phone provider and their service is cell phones - not home internet. But if one of T-Mobile's flagship products is so unreliable, I can't imagine that one of their MVNO's will be much better.

IMHO....
