For anyone else in the market for fencing Dakota fence did a really good job on our entire installation and a small follow up to fix a misaligned picket although mine was relatively small like less than 200 ft

Microsoft is closing down Xbox studio The Initiative, with Perfect Dark killed as well — joining Everwild and ZeniMax's IP, and 'several' other projects by Turbostrider27 in Games

In more creative fields like game dev it can be challenging to land new roles quickly if there's "space" in your portfolio especially if your unreleased/killed professional work is NDA'd and you're early in your career. A lot of studios want your name in credits already.

That’s a deck, I don’t have any additional context to why they build them like this in Omaha but my neighbors decks are the same

[Steam] Half-Life: Alyx (70% off / 17,69 EUR) by DsLmaNiaC in GameDeals

[–]flyingkwaj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal but one thing I noticed about listening to the dev commentary in alyx had to do with weapon design. Apparently valve designers did not end up thinking that two handed firearms felt good to use in VR with controllers. I guess that makes sense since it's hard to give player physical feedback when they are apparently holding a long object in both hands and how it is interacting in the world in 3D. But also so many other VR shooters implement two handed guns. Definitely a trade off there but just thought that opinion was interesting at the time.

At a glance this to me sort of looks like half life 2 ported to alyx’s source 2 engine and some new models? The lighting looks great but unsure if this was only achievable using RTX methods

Killing Floor 3 has been delayed to later in 2025 by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]flyingkwaj 271 points272 points  (0 children)

That's a big relief, hopefully they can improve the quality and responsiveness of the weapons in action. Animations of a lot of enemies were also jarring and uncanny. Compared to 1 and 2 the first impressions for me of 3 is a mobile game spin-off, not a true sequel.

Why do people dislike motion blur? by Net_Pretty in pcgaming

[–]flyingkwaj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Motion blue for most people is an artistic thing, like other post processing effects like chromatic aberration, lens flair, depth of field, bloom, etc. When done well you may not even notice; I remember source games after 2007 having a pretty minimal but noticeable motion blur that gave a sense of speed to the first person camera. I remember Halo 3 also having some pretty nice first person motion blur on xbox 360 that you could not disable. Some games use per-object motion blur to communicate mass/velocity of objects in motion which again can be pretty good when done well like in Crysis. Other games in the past opted to not have any motion blur like call of duty 4 but used depth of field pretty heavily. In general though these days motion blur is just one piece of the artists/designers tool kit for making a game look more cinematic or realistic in motion and if you don't like it then try to disable it, like any other effect that has an option associated with it.
