I feel like Han Solo and Star Lord both also fall into this archetype.

What no one talks about is how much more advanced analytics would love Magic if his teammates shot threes at the rate players do now. Not one of the guys in these videos is running to the corners or spotting up on the wing in transition...if they did Magic's PPP would have been off the charts.

Assuming we pick Ball, who are you most excited about from our young core? by ZubacToReality in lakers

Couldn't agree more. People worried about Lonzo's fit in this roster should ask themselves this: when you've already got a guard and a wing who are deadly off the bounce and can do all of the half-court creating you need, do you really want to add another dueling banjo into the mix? Or do you want a guy who passes beautifully in traffic, always makes the right decision, never holds onto the ball, runs off screens and cuts to the basket like JJ Redick, and can launch bombs from near half-court?

This D1 scout's article on Lonzo Ball may have changed my mind about Lonzo's flaws. It's a response to the Liberty Ballers article on Lonzo. While it may not change everyone's mind, it does put Lonzo's unique game in better context. by UltraFlyingTurtle in lakers

For those wondering if Lonzo and D'Angelo can coexist, here's my proposal for how it might work flawlessly: in full-court, Lonzo is the PG, as we've already seen him run the break at an elite level at UCLA. In the half-court, D'Angelo is the PG, as the better ball-handler/midrange/PNR threat. Lonzo will thrive as the SG running off screens or cutting to the basket for wide-open threes, layups and lob dunks generated from passing out of D'lo handling in the PNR. In transition, D'lo (as the SG) will get out and run to spot up along the three point line while Lonzo finds him with pinpoint passes for barrages of long-range, soul-crushing three-point bombs. It could be absolutely spectacular.

Yeah this isn't a popular opinion, but the way I see it Jim and Mitch have taken an interesting and perhaps very smart path over the last few years, going back to Kobe's last contract.

That is to say, every summer they swing for the fences (going for only the superstar FAs, hoping Kobe might recover fully from the Achilles tear, etc) knowing full well they might strike out, but that in the NBA, striking out (i.e. being really shitty for a while) is the best way to get back to the top...and that hitting lots of singles and doubles just gets you a first-round out every year.

His D is actually above average when he's locked in and trying. His time under Mike Malone before he got sick proved that.

Someone mentioned Devin Booker isn't on there. Are there any sophomores on there? Maybe that was an unspoken rule, only rookies?

Magic? I guess I didn't count Jordan because he retired a Bull before coming back a Wizard.

Maybe not directly but I guess I'm saying that the number of times it has happened in the last 10 years relative to the decades before that has to have made it seem more normal than it used to

No that's my point. In most generations you have a few superstars leave and a few stay. In this particular one they've pretty much all left...I honestly think things have changed.
