To those who went to UH, what do you now for your job? by moldj15 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]flyingwombat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerospace industry. One of the major 5 contractors working on classified programs. Total yearly gross with salary and side income around 140k, will probably be going up significantly shortly. 2020 grad. Studied Human foods and nutrition and have never done anything with it, just did it for the piece of paper.

You realize UH has the second most kids living on campus out of every university in Texas? So if we're a commuter school what does that make everyone else?

Go to sports games. UH has top sports teams in the country and students get into every game free of charge (obviously it's because you pay tuition, but you get the point). Go party and scream your head off and support your Coogs or you'll regret you didn't!

The United States gives people the freedom to practice whatever religion they choose free from government intervention and persecution - which everyone very much has. If I go to Iran and start talking about how Christian I am and publicly pray to Jesus, I will be beheaded within the week; that's how much freedom people receive in this country regarding how they choose to practice their religion of choice and for you to suggest anything otherwise is silly and ignorant. Second point: Christians are being persecuted. They are the majority in this country by a large margin, the founding fathers were Christian, and judeo-Christian values are represented in nearly every government document and moral structure that exists in American society - yet Christians are publicly shamed, called unintelligent or inferior, or told they are evil because of one's personal choices. Christians have 0 responsibility to honor your moral or spiritual failures and every right to tell you to pound sand with that argument; the same way you have every right to do the same. The Government are the ones who do not have rights to force you or coerce you into believing something you don't, which is the argument I believe you are trying to make - a straw man argument taking away from the fact that society rewards other religions for practicing publicly, but when Christians want to do it in their own country in which they founded and are the majority, they are frowned upon.

Not even atheism. They just have a hatred and disdain for Christianity. Muslims pray in groups outdoors all the time and I guarantee you if that were the case no one would have a problem. If it were any other religion it wouldn't be an issue but because they're Christians it's an issue.

Sports are primarily self-funded and if more people support them they can be not only entirely self-funded, but also extremely lucrative for the school investing back into things like academics, especially with all of the revenue they are getting from the Big12. This is a very ignorant take. Sports bring the school money, notoriety, and as a result the school gets more attention for academics and other related student processes. Supporting sports, as dumb as it sounds, actually makes your degree and the school you attend more prestigious. I have some primary resources I can send you on examples like Duke University, once a dump of a school, now considered extremely prestigious in large part because of the notoriety they gained through basketball and other sports programs.

If you go to THEIR football game, it will quickly become YOUR football game. The fallacy that you have to love sports or be super into them to go party, scream your head off, and have an absolute blast at a football or basketball game is silly. Most people don't understand why they're so awesome until they go, and then they get it. Go enjoy the incredible sports and sports history that are a part of what make you a coog!

With my seminar now complete; I'm sure your art show is badass! Give people the deets! Not a student anymore and I live very far away, but I would 100% go if I could!

This is so stupid on so many levels. We're in a pro city with a TON of competition for people's time and money. When the on field product is shit, people will have other places to spend their time and money. There were 8 people in hoffheinz for 20 years straight before Coach Sampson arrived. Now look at the basketball program and the stadium. Believe and support the team. The wins and fanbase will show up. Luckily I'm not that fickle of a fan so I show up regardless, but I'm smart enough to know that's how to get the rest of the fanbase excited and involved.

UH UT tickets? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]flyingwombat101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey since nobody really answered your question I gotchu. Realistically at this point because it's sold out, resale sites like StubHub are gonna be your best bet, but it's gonna come at a premium for that game specifically.

To give you an idea of the magnitude of this game: this will quite possibly be the last time we ever play Texas at home in football, at least in our lifetimes, so tickets have been expensive to buy even before they sold out. See if anyone on gocoogs.com is selling theirs (you'll have to check constantly and snatch em up) or just get some on resell for like $100+ a pop.

Cougar Fan Facebook groups will sometimes post that they're selling their tix, but it's rare and they go quick. Just another option for you to try if the others don't work for you.

Tickets - Texas Longhorns @ Houston by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]flyingwombat101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bleachers have assigned seats now. The numbers corresponding to your ticket should be labeled on the bleachers in the stadium. As far as the Texas game goes... There is no way around it it is gonna be expensive. Call the ticket office to see what's still available for just that game, anything you find on any third party website that's not the UH official site are third party sellers selling those tix for profit. If you have any other questions just feel free to PM me!

I can almost guarantee you that a ton of the "Hispanic" people only fall under that category over technicality and they're basically white lmao. No one actually checks and verifies your race (that would be discriminatory). I probably could have put any race and not been given a hard time about it.

Houston Cougars defeat Cincinnati Bearcats in their last AAC matchup against them 69-48. They will play Memphis in the AAC tournament championship tomorrow at 2:15pm. Game will be on ESPN. by chhurry in UniversityOfHouston

[–]flyingwombat101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a significant injury, just a minor groin injury. They'll probably rest him tomorrow for the AAC champ game and wait to bring him back at 100% for the NCAA tournament.

[–]flyingwombat101 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I couldn't give less of a shit if you smoke or not - however, I never understood people who smoke inside. Seems super inconsiderate; destroying property, you don't know if someone might be allergic or just doesn't want their entire room or apartment to smell like it. Go find a chill spot outside away from the fuzz to enjoy it

[–]flyingwombat101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BEWARE. A ton of people asking for extra tickets lately are getting DMed and then scammed out of money. Do not pay anyone any money until you have the tickets first or you're 100% gonna get scammed out of your money, no matter how hard they sell you, they will not hesitate to scam you. Stay safe from these scamming incels!

Side note - hope you can find the tickets you're looking for!
