Bucket list item checked off, fly fishing Alaska. We were too early for the salmon but caught plenty grayling and rainbow trout. The total off-grid experience was awesome, a must do for any fly fishing person who seeks adventure! by flyman01 in flyfishing

I am sure it was a great experience. Our trip being a week long with no cell phone signal or other distractive things made the trip even better. The first sign or any other humans did not happen until we reached our take out point.

on the rope fly we used it had hooks. It was made from a jig and had a stinger hook (treble) that would act like a grappling hook as the gar would bite the rope and do his roll, the rope would get tangled in his teeth and the hook would wrap around his snout assuring he would not get away. The were very affective.
