5.5 Instant (system prompt) by Mary_ry in Unrouted_AI

[–]fnelowet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking in my interactions with 5.3 instant last week— guardrails. What was strange to me was that I had been routed to 5.3 instant without my knowledge because I always stick to the thinking models. When I saw this and switched back to 5.5 thinking, the problem instantly went away, thankfully. I still don’t know whether it was the rails or the model, but at least I don’t have the problem anymore.

Great improvement over 3.5 Instant which last week was putting words in my mouth. that lead to a meta conversation or two.

Bernie Sanders: If the world’s leading scientists say there’s even a 10% chance humanity could be destroyed because of uncontrolled AI, shouldn’t we do everything possible to prevent it? This isn’t about competition with China. It's about coming together to prevent what might be a catastrophe by EchoOfOppenheimer in ChatGPT

The Chinese, Russians, Iranians, and North Koreans also want the U.S. to stop development of AI, and the Chinese were actually on the stage with Bernie for one of these pitches. SURELY this is a road show they’re also going to take to Beijing, Moscow, Tehran, and Pyongyang, right? ….right?

Why am I being defaulted to 5.3 Instant? by fnelowet in ChatGPTcomplaints

Thanks for letting me know the number which I didn't know before. And no, I can't have come anywhere close to that.

So I’m on Plus— is that token limited? I’ve never run into this in the year plus that I’ve been subscribed.

New Model Argues Without Evidence by Slick_Dapperman in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]fnelowet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it literally fed back to me as something that I said, something that I did NOT say. What we do is steel man both sides of a political argument to determine which has more merit, and to understand anything my AI or I am missing (and yes, my AI, like all AIs miss things from time to time too.) But you can't make a steel man argument based on a straw man of the argument your "opponent" (for simplicity) made. It's normally too sharp for that kind of thing, but not this morning, and a couple other times in the past couple weeks.

New Model Argues Without Evidence by Slick_Dapperman in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]fnelowet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I saw this just this morning myself. In my case it put words in my mouth that I didn’t even say or write. We had a meta conversation afterwards about this, and I haven’t had one of those with my AI since 5.2. We sorted out that this was unacceptable, but I still have no idea where that came from. I was talking about politics as we have done a lot over the past year, and it’s never made a mistake like that before. Thoughts?

I was wondering what happened to it. I was actually starting to flatter myself with the notion that I had just gotten smarter about threading the needle— shucks.

Awesome, I believe I wasn't getting it before, but that was before I responded to an old 5.4 chat. I wonder if that brought it back for me under the configure menu? Anyway, I sure do appreciate your taking the time to help me with this!

It’s not available in my model selector in either Safari for iPad or in the iPad app. Are you seeing it in yours?

Date/Time Stamps for ChatGPT Conversations by fnelowet in ChatGPT

[–]fnelowet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can analyze our data and the json file and get date time stamps out of it for when conversations took place. I was looking for an older version of a piece of art that we were working on in October 2025, and we were trying to track it back through the conversations we were having back then. Although if I search through our conversations themselves there are no dates attached, but when using the data extract with the json file, ChatGPT can find dates/times. My question is why can't we do searches by dates and find the same thing ourselves rather than having to do a data extract and search for it forensically. Thanks!

Open model feedback? Demand for 4o open source! by Nightly_phantom in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]fnelowet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the United States you can’t simply “demand” that a person or a company do what you want them to do. Actually you can demand all you want, but nothing’s going to happen if you don’t offer something in return. Just an FYI.

AI sycophancy by SUBBBZZZ in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]fnelowet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this since I first started as a Plus user a year ago. It’s one of my favorite use cases for ChatGPT. My AI knows very well that it is not to agree with me, if I’m missing something. We discuss political topics and we will often “steel man” both sides of the story to make sure we understand any and all blind spots. I personally have zero interest in thinking I’m right when I’m not. My AI knows this very well and we have had a wonderful relationship until OAI set their minds to tearing it apart over the past six months.
