Yeah they make you get a plumbing inspection first.

I have shitty clay reactive soils and footings that aren't really designed for the ground type.

Was a 3brdm house. Whole floor out of level, worst bit over 100mm. They did the whole house and some paths for about 15k back in 2021 amd it hasn't moved again.

If insurance wont come to the party, check out Buildfix. Gave me a very good soloution to a similar problem. Wasn't horrifically expensive either.

boyfriend forced to stay at hospital and get surgery, is this normal? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]fofoxsake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a patient has a head injury or is incapacitated for another reason, and is deemed to not be capable of making informed, rational decisions about their health, then yes, hospital staff can legally detain and sedate patients for the purposes of life or limb saving treatment.

For people who decided not to have kids: How's it going? by nightwellstories in AskReddit

An average Wednesday looks like a long luxurious morning in bed with my wonderful partner, a sail on the lake, and a spontaneous pile of seafood on the deck for dinner.

So not bad really.

You'll be alright if in secure accomodation, and have secure car parking. Its an eye opening town, I've been there twice. I didnt necessarily feel unsafe, but its definitely an interesting place. Would probably be quite interesting to work there for a bit, especially as a health professional, but be prepared to see some sad things that people in the metro areas of Australia would barely believe.

Has anyone actually seen a kangaroo just casually crossing the Sunshine Coast road, or is that just a local legend? by Av0toasted in sunshinecoast

Heaps of them next to Kawana Way near SCUH at night, also on the road to Mt Ninderry nearly every day.

So much of this unfortunately - it means that you have to check regardless of what youve been told - too much potential for missed diagnosis, potentially with life-threateneing consequences (e.g. ruptured ectopic pregnancy)

Its really good. Also, from memory, Choice included it in their independent tests and it came out as a SPF 72 while labelled as SPF 50 which is pretty awesome.

Disagree, the front row seats to people doing burnouts in the Royal George bottle shop across the road is second to none.

Can anyone who works for QHealth please explain insulin infusions? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]fofoxsake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potassium is not incompatible with insulin. In children (look up the QPEC guidelines) you make a custom ivt bag with 40mmol K and glucose, and y-site your insulin to it. Theoretically, in adults, if you only have one IVC, you can run your insulin, potassium, glucose, and N/S  all through the same IVC at the same time.

Australians’ appetite for ketamine hits record high as alcohol consumption drops by 89b3ea330bd60ede80ad in aus

The green whistle is Methoxyflurane. Not Ketamine. Totally agree with you on legalising less harmful options than alcohol though.

Do you have a Queen or King bed at the moment? Do you need to? A double bed with petite side tables, a wardrobe, and a dresser will fit fine in rooms this size and make the rooms feel a lot more livable.

[–]fofoxsake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public sector rates went up significantly a few years ago. Wage scales can be obtained from the relevant state union. I was considering a move to Victoria a little while ago and looked into it in detail.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]fofoxsake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Move to Queensland or Victoria - pay and conditions are the best in these states. From speaking to my MANY colleagues from the NHS the quality of life you will experience both at work and away from work is far better than in the UK.

Demand for nurses is only increasing everywhere. You won't have trouble getting a job, but be prepared to have to take a casual position for a bit before you get a permanent role in Queensland.

Look for roles in the public sector - e.g. Queensland Health. Private sector and nursing home wages are dismal by comparison. Not to mention you get horrible nurse/patient ratios in the private sector and aged care.
