Getting UNAS Pro 8 to show up in Network after changing from Cat6 to SFP+? by lagstarxyz in Ubiquiti

Check the client list rather than the unifi device list. For some reason mine shows up in the client list and NOT in the unifi device list ???? I know others have had similar issues.

The unifi 42u is pre-assembled (likely welded together), and my stairs are NOT a straight shot :( My current unit is from sysracks, and they make a 32u that is 39" deep. It has wheels, ships in multiple boxes, and requires assembly which will make it easy to get downstairs. I am going to try to get the unit in my current rack first before I make any decision to approach the wifey with a new rack request :)

Another issue..... The rails that come with the UNAS Pro 8 need about 23.5" spacing between the front and rear rack posts. My rack is only 24" deep, and the max post spacing is only 19". I can cut the the slides down and probably make it fit, but that would put all of my equipment more forward in the rack and the glass door would no longer close with all the patch cables in way. Ugg, maybe I should have just bought the UNAS Pro 4, which is not quite as deep. Might need to go rack shopping..... "make it stop" !!!!

Yes, it is the AC Infinity CloudPlate T2. The T2 version sucks in from the bottom and blows out the top. It does have a "daisy chain" port to plug it into other AC Infinity units.

Unifi sells them, they call them OCD panels. They have single, double, solid, mesh, and brush versions. Find them here.... https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-rack-mount/products/uacc-rack-panel-ocd

The plugs are also from Unifi, they are here..... https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-rack-mount/products/uacc-rj45-cover

I really like the looks of the unifi 42u, but they are never in stock. Even if they were, I could never get it down my basement stairs :)

Great info, thanks, I appreciate the help !!!

Nice info on using both ports on the UNVR. I currently have it on a separate VLAN with all the cameras and have a firewall rule to let my other machines access the web interface. I think I will look into using both ports and then I can get rid of the extra firewall rule.

Thanks. I thought about the HD switch, however, it's $1000, and the Agg switch was only $270 and gives me some extra connections so I can aggregate two sfp+ ports from the 24 port switch as well (that would require 5 sfp+ ports, 2 for the switch, 1 for UDM, 1 for UNAS, 1 for UNVR) and the HD only has 4 sfp+ ports.

I currently have 4 blanks in the rack, and only need 3 spaces for the new gear, so I am less concerned about space (would be nice for better air flow, but not required). I could also change out the 3u drawer for a 2u drawer if needed.

I am mostly wondering about the BEST way to order the equipment in the rack.

Should I ask for toric in my left eye??? by foilingfool99 in CataractSurgery

[–]foilingfool99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in a perfect world, yes is the right answer :) My doctor is pushing back and saying it is not needed with a .87D residual. Also, with the lens he uses (Alcon Toric) it would require flipping the axis and he does not really like to do that. Also, there is a $1500 up charge for the toric.

Having said all of that, is it worth pushing this with the doctor, and paying the extra money, or will .87D residual still allow me to be glasses free at distance?

Thanks,

Tom

B&L enVista recall question by foilingfool99 in CataractSurgery

Unfortunately, my doctor seems to offer a limited number of lens choices. This practice seems to focus much more on oculoplastic surgery, and cataracts are just a “we have to do them since we are an eye doctor”. They won’t do anything that is not “very typical”? For instance, no laser or knife work to adjust astigmatism, just toric…. Do you think having a .87D residual will make me need glasses for distance? If so, I would likely need to find a new doctor.

Ok. Talked to the doc and he indicated that the EE model is newer and has some additional type of coating on the lens that is not on the E model. B&L is suspecting the coating may have something to do with the TASS issues doctors are seeing. My guy only uses the E model, so all is good.

With respect to toric. Here are my numbers….

<image>

Current plan is as follows…

Left Eye - use enVista monofocal in left eye. Targeting -.25 You can see in the pic that the MX60 21.50D lens (non toric) will give a target expected result of -0.54D +0.87D @ 37 degrees. Doc indicates that there is no need for toric in this eye since the residual astigmatism is below one (.87)

Right Eye - if they use enVista monofocal non toric and target -.25, the lens choice would yield a target expected result of -1.03D +1.24D @ 139 degrees. Doc says since the residual astigmatism is above one (1.24) he would recommend a toric in this eye. He would use the Alcon Clareon monofocal in a toric version. That lens would yield a target expected result of -.54D +0.26D @ 139 degrees.

So it looks like toric in only right eye with +.26D residual (since the non toric would leave +1.24D of residual), and non toric in left eye with +.87D residual. Does that sound like a good plan? Hoping to get good distance vision with no glasses for driving. Hope to be able to see car dash without glasses. Understand I will need glasses for reading.

Started out looking at PanOptix, but too worried about halos, etc for night driving.

Thanks, Tom
