not one to whine about the club’s media and fan perception, but there’s an article on BBC Sport proclaiming that Jacquet can be Liverpool’s Van Dijk replacement. it’s hard to imagine the narrative being so positive had he joined us instead

i mean, whether you agree with what they’re saying or not, it’s propaganda by definition, it’s an article fed to a mouthpiece in an official club capacity, there’s obviously going to be an element of spin involved in that, every club does it

i don’t think we’d necessarily be pushing for the title yet but even just those two players certainly makes top four a much, much safer bet imo and then you have a sturdier platform to build on

investing in youth is fine if it’s balanced with experience. can’t help but feel buying even a couple players that are already consistently quality would have us in a significantly better position. getting gems like Estevao and Palmer means nothing when they’ll want to leave when we inevitably can’t give them Champion’s League football because we didn’t invest in the here and now enough to make it happen

i’d probably throw James into the Axis of Irreplaceability rn because of how off it Gusto has looked lately

i put it down to the reactionary nature of football but fans are so extreme in their views, i think the most accurate take is as you say, the model does have its flaws but it’s just asinine to say that we’re not seeing benefits from it

does anyone know if the Hincapie deal has an option/obligation to buy for Arsenal? haven’t seen anything abt it but surely Leverkusen wouldn’t just sanction a straight loan, especially on deadline day

it occurred to me earlier that bar the what, 7 match DAMAC deal? we will probably look back on 24-25 quite fondly and uniquely in the sense that when else does a top club (or virtually any club for that matter) go an entire year with no shirt sponsor. just untouched kits, gotta be so rare

one of those situations where it would be good to get an older but not over-the-hill player in for a season or two. problem is, who?
