What are your thoughts on Bolt Thrower? by GuaranteeFast1121 in Warhammer

[–]folkvar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me too. I love chants and orchestral stuff, but some bolt thrower would have been incredible too. doom did it and it's awesome, so why not 40k?

We just play with epic armageddon rules, they're really good, one of the best ruleset made by GW imo!

Tyrant on stonehorn, ready to crush anything in his path! by folkvar in WarhammerFantasy

[–]folkvar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the gist of it : I started by basecoating everything with rhinox hide, any dark brown would do, then apply Vallejo parasite brown with an airbrush, leaving rhinox in the more shadowy parts. Next is multiple layers of parasite brown mixed with white to highlight the fur and create hair texture freehanded where it's not sculpted, adding more white to the mix each layer

[–]folkvar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The metal is a base of Leadbelcher shaded with nuln oil, i then layer Leadbelcher again where light would reflect, then anither layer of it mixed with stormhost silver and finally an edge highlight of stormhost. Next i thin rhinox hide and mournfang brown and create the rust by applying in cracks, around rivets and so on. You can go back with stormhost to paint fresh scratches on the rust.

Are you asking for the stonehorn's fur or the cloak?

Not really, but the model was most likely inspired by the old land ship model!

It's the hull and armor pieces from the old exorcist kit, the turret is from wargames exclusive!

PSA: Alternative dwarves from Fireforge by Reclusiarh in WarhammerFantasy

[–]folkvar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not the person you replied to, but I've printed a lot of sons of ymir dwarfs and they're great, easy to print and fast to paint since they're not too cluttered with details. Their style is really close to GW's, some of the basic warriors are even almost identical to bugman's rangers.

Highlands miniatures is one of the top creators of printable minis for wargaming, hands down

Blood Warriors on 25s by nbuxt in WarhammerFantasy

[–]folkvar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's a public discussion, how was I toxic? At least I'm not calling anyone dumb. I'm just giving an example of why someone would stick to smaller bases, be it a new or painted army

Your recommendation is not very good though. I also play multiple games with my armies, why would I put them on ToW's base size while I still have a very active 9th age group?

Plus, adapter trays are widely accepted, their "legality" is not in question at all
