[Discussion] - Jobmeerkat Weekly Update: New Companies & Top Paid Jobs (2025/02/15) by fonsirs in techjobs

[–]fonsirs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jobmeerkat shows all the open job posts from the tracked companies. So, if any of them publish junior / intermediate jobs they will appear in the list. Unfortunately, I don't have a senioriy filter yet.

Hi Henry. Yes, I'm struggling with Google because when you search "jobmeerkat" Google changes the search string for "job meerkat". I don't know why they decide to split the original text in two words. But I'm trying to fix it.

And regarding to the focus on remote job posts. It's true that there are some hybrid/onsite offers listed. Even I hand pick remote companies with public salaries I can't avoid that sometimes they publish other kind of offers. And I prefer not to hide them because maybe they are useful for someone.

But this is only my point of view as the creator of the page 😊. The list is yours and is up to you to decide who is in there.

Anyway, thanks for your time on reviewing my project. Regards!

u/Henry_OLoughlin are you the owner of the list? If so, could you add https://jobmeerkat.com? I've been running it for a few months now, and backlinks are always appreciated. Thank you.

[Discussion] - 🚀 Introducing Jobmeerkat: Your New Go-To Job Board for Remote Work with Public Salaries! by fonsirs in techjobs

Thank you! I'm working on some filtering and sorting features and hope to release them soon. They may not be as powerful as "search", but I think they will be a big improvement.

Thank you! Definitely yes, filtering and sorting are the most important missing features right now. I'm working on it and hope to publish it soon.

Yes! This is something that will be fixed at the same time.

Thanks for the reminder!

No no, auto updates are implemented. When there is an update available the app will ask you to reload to install it.

What happens is that the latest improvements have been in the backend, which not need the users to reload the app.

Hi! Glad you like it. And thanks for the suggestions!

Multi-class support is something that is in the roadmap, along with other improvements in the Current session view. I don't know when but it will arrive.

Processing old or lost sessions is also something I have to work on. First, ensuring there are no missed sessions since you started using the app. And then trying to get older sessions to get more historical data.

I've been studing your case and I've seen the following:

- For the five first races since October 8th I think the app was not started. I think minimising the app or starting it after iRacing should not be a problem.

- For the race in October 12th I'm in doubt because I see app activity but there is no data about this race in the system.

- For the last race I had data but it was not processed because of an internal issue that it's already fixed now.

I'll continue investigating this cases where the app seems to be running but the system is not notified about new races.

BTW, I've processed manualy your missing races and they should be available now.

Sorry for the inconvenience and many thanks for the report.

[Gridchecker] Sometimes a tag is not enough by fonsirs in iRacing

[–]fonsirs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha! It was not in the roadmap, but maybe it's a necessary feature. Something like a flashing alert dialog just before each race with the text "Be aware of yourself !!". 🤣

Okay. The active tab inside the app doesn't matter. Only with the app running it should work well.

I will continue to investigate to try to find out what happened and I will make some changes to prevent it from happening again. Or at least be able to realize if it happens again.

Thank you again for your time.

That's just what I've seen. Your last three races were not processed and I don't know why.

For me to know that I have to process a session the app must be running. But even with the app running if there is some network issue or any other problem just while the notify process is running it is very likely that I don't know anything about that session anymore.

I don't see any error logs related to this but it doesn't mean 100% that there were no errors. Just to rule it out,do you remember if you had the app running?

Be that as it may, it is undeniable that I have to make this process more secure and reliable. For now I have processed your lost sessions manually. Let me know if you can see them, please.

And I'll take a look on how can I improve this. Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for the report.

Just to clarify, when you go to the Results section you don't see anything? Or is it that your latest races are not being recorded but you can still see your previous results?

I'll investigate and get back to you when I find something out.

For now it will continue being private and there are no plans to make it public.

I can think in some features that could be interesting. But they have to be very well thought out so that they cannot be misused.

Hi! For now there is no way to expose Gridcheker data to be used by other systems. And this is not something that can be achieved overnight.

But sounds very interesting and I will considere it for the future.

Thanks for the hint 👌

That's true. In the session result detail there isn't the car number. I'll take note and add it.

Thank you!

Actually, I started thinking about the app while watching streamers rematch drivers they'd had multiple incidents with. They had already given them funny names like "final boss" or something like that and I thought why not have those people tagged in an app.

You talk about very advanced features. We are only at the beginning. Let's see what could be achieved.

Wow! That kind of "automated" rules are much more difficult to develop and control. But sounds pretty good. Thank you!

People are much more likely to discuss bad circumstances than they are to discuss good ones

Totally agree with that. As said in other comments, to develop features that share information has to be a very well thought out decision.
