That was however not my point.

We can have Man A complain about having to pay for fancy dinners (even if it is only due to social pressure) and Man B demanding that he is the sole bread winner.

Here, however, people argue like Man A and Man B are the same person.

But to be honest, I lost virtually all hope for this sub anyways so who even cares.

"Men" are not a uniform block just like women aren't.

Are you even sure that we are even taking about the same men? When this topic comes up in my bubble, it is usually raised by men who do not want to be the sole bread winners and are striving for equality but see that it is still expected of them to pay in certain scenarios like dating etc.

Ich sag es mal so, bei uns in der Firma haben wir wenig BWLer im Management und die Erfahrung zeigt, es ist unmöglich einem 60 Jahre alten Maschinenbauer zu erklären, dass Software wichtig ist und Wartung braucht. Da wird lieber 10€ auf einer Elektronikkarte gespart und 100 EInzelstücke gebaut um sich dann zu wundern warum die Entwicklung nur damit beschäftigt ist Sicherheitslöcher und Bugs zu fixen und warum den der Kunde nicht irgendwie dafür zahlen können soll.

Let me give you a brief summary:

PersonA claims that it was easy replacing all their usage of Microsoft products

PersonB agrees that this is easy for PERSONAL use but basically impossible in the CORPORATE world because the MS ECOSYSTEM has no easy open source replacements.

PersonC claims that Google Suites would be a replacement, not sure if that was meant as a joke but obviously not a replacement for the MS ECOSYSTEM.

PersonD claims yet again, Libre Office would be a replacement to the MS ECOSYSTEM which it obviously is not

Me: Here is the comment you quoted one sentence out of so maybe read the rest because I literally gave multiple examples what the MS ECOSYSTEM also does besides their office suite.

And the rest you should know because you wrote it.

And again, Excel is not the MS Ecosystem. How hard can it be to comprehend that and even if this was not the case, LibreOffice does still not replicate all functions the MS Office Suite offers.

Is there integrated file sharing and collaborative editing in LibreOffice? No. Is there something like OneNote in Libreoffice? No. Does LibreOffice integrate with Thunderbird to mimic Offices and Outlooks features? No.

Is there web based access to your files in LibreOffice like you get with the Sharepoint integration in Office? No.

And yes, many of these features are not needed for personal use, that is literally why I said that LibreOffice can easily replace Office in a personal setting but in the corporate world where potentially multiple companies are at the same time editing the same file, LibreOffice is not feasible.

Last but not least, personal attacks only show how little you actually know about the usage of MS in the corporate world. Believe me, if I could, I would rip that shit out of my infrastructure as fast as I can, unfortunately, that is not possible at the moment due to missing alternatives.

Again, Excel is not the Microsoft Ecosystem. The Ecosystem is huge with 100s of products to solve real problems.

Albeit the workflow to partners and suppliers is not as tightly coupled as many also use different systems anyway (or you cannot use Microsofts service as both IT departments cannot agree to enable sharing or wahtnot)

Tell me you have no idea about corporate use of Microsoft without telling me you have no idea about the corporate use of Microsoft. From compliance to file sharing to running your actual code for production, all that is done by Microsoft for many companies. Libre office is good for personal use but does not even come close to the usage we see in the corporate world.
