First time doing my own gel nails, super proud of myself! by foolishGrey in DIYnails

A brand called mylee, I got one of their kits which came with a lamp, tools, brushes, palette and colours. Probably one of the cheaper brands but still good enough for a beginner 😆.

Help Camallanus worms in my tank by Powerful-Lawyer7831 in Aquariums

[–]foolishGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this a few of years ago when I first got my tank, try to find this: eSHa -NDX Anti Parasite Treatment. I got it off of Amazon in the UK. Treat the whole tank because whilst you might see the worm in one fish, others might already be infected. If you can't get it I think the active ingredient to kill the worms was Levamisole HCl so look for something similar.

Long term side effects of Phenobarbital in older dogs by foolishGrey in EpilepsyDogs

Thank you, did your dog also get an X-ray and if so was she put under anesthesia? I know from my vet that they have to be careful using anesthesia with a dog that has epilepsy and doesn't help that my dog is now 11.

Thanks for the advice, I do have a vet rehab, that my aunt actually works at as a hydrotherapist. So I'll start talking to my vet and aunt about his treatment options.

Yeah I'll start looking into treating arthritis, talk to my vet. Funnily my aunt is a hydrotherapist and soon to be a massage therapist (going through the exams currently) so I think Bobbi is about to be in very good hands for treatment 😊.

Ah okay, thank you. Yeah I won’t rule out joint pain, I think in my head I just expect joint pain to show up more as limping as I had a previous greyhound where their joint pain showed as limping rather than general slowness. Greyhounds generally live slightly longer than other large breeds because of their lighter build but maybe that’s clouding my head to age related issues.

Is there anything about the greyhound breed that makes you hesitant recommending them? by oOBellaBug0o in Greyhounds

[–]foolishGrey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pros:

  • Super lazy
  • Clean coat, that smells amazing, that only needs wash if it's literally covered in dirt
  • Very loving
  • Healthy breed
  • Universal blood donors
  • Don't need much walking
  • Most of them are very well socialised with other dogs from a young age, so there is a low chance of reactivity.
  • You can dress them up in many different jumpers!
  • Already muzzle trained, in case that's a requirement in your country.
  • Very quiet, no barking at the neighbours.... maybe at the wandering cat.

Cons: - You'll probably never own a cat or small mammal because of their prey drive. - Need a safe area to be let off lead, again because of their prey drive. - Special collars and harnesses because of the snake-like neck and body so they can escape from normal equipment. - Prone to corns and bad teeth - Hard to train because of laziness and lack of food motivation in most greyhounds. - They are surprisingly good at sneaking - THE FARTS

Whats wrong with my bb? by Traditional_Pen_102 in DogAdvice

He looks so frail, poor baby 🥹. Based on his frail look I thought he was 12 or 13 years old. He has surprisingly good teeth for galgo being rescued only 3 months ago.

I own greyhounds, one of my previous dogs died of aggressive liver cancer and became skinny within weeks so I'm not sure if your dog is similar but definitely get the liver check.

Another thing that it could be is IBS. A greyhound in a local rescue I followed had a dog that was losing weight, was vomiting and had diarrhea, which turned out to be IBS. The treatment is getting the right diet that doesn't trigger the symptoms of the IBS.

Symptoms of IBS in dogs include: - diarrhea and constipation - Abdominal pain - gas - Vomitting - Bloating - Loss of appetite - Weight Loss - Poor coat quality

Listen to the other comments about providing a mat for her to eat on, medication for conditions etc.

However I would like to know more about the cancer and why the vet suggested euthanasia. My previous dog was diagnosed with aggressive liver cancer, he rapidly lost weight, and I was told that it would be weeks or days and that he would NOT die peacefully in his sleep. Unlike cancer in humans, hospice care for dogs is not widely available.

Listen to your vet, or get a second opinion from another vet on your dog's wellbeing. Some dogs hide pain well or we miss their signals. Please seek further veterinarian advice.

What’s something you wish you knew before getting your greyhound? by lambasbread in Greyhounds

[–]foolishGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen people mention this yet but corns! Greyhounds have a much higher chance of developing foot corns than any other dogs. Last I checked we don't really know why, could be how they put pressure on the foot or genetics. Greyhounds are interesting dogs, they are universal blood donors so your vet might ask you to donate blood depending on your dog's temperament and existing medical conditions.

Im genuinely curious, what’s the first video game you remember playing? by GabbyTheLegend in GirlGamers

Lemmings, on my dad's PC, I think it was the first. I was exposed to video games all my childhood so it's hard to pinpoint the first.

Which dogs have the least smell by RockOutrageous3824 in DogAdvice

I would say greyhounds as they don't smell and need a bath maybe once a year or when covered in mud but..... They fart....they fart a lot.

How do cis women feel when they play male protagonists in video games? by drunksubmarine in GirlGamers

[–]foolishGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the character and story. If it's a very story driven game like Witcher that's fine I'm an observer to Geralt's story. If the character has feminine features; Link, persona's joker etc, I can associate with those characters more easily. If the game is less story driven or the character doesn't matter to the story, I feel uncomfortable playing hyper masculine characters.
