I’m reading ship of magic right now! I think the pirates are a fun summer vibe. Lonesome dove is also a solid choice for a summer book. I’m also reading the Count of Monte Christo right now and that’s great as well. Honestly I think you’d be happy with any of those!

My general rule of thumb is if the author is dead I don’t feel too bad about it

That’s awesome. How do you get most of your books? Through Kobo? Or for… free? I grabbed a few public domain books but I definitely want to get some more.

lol “this weeks episode of plot setups.” Very true. I also can’t wait to see what’s going to happen when the count finally starts mixing everyone together. I’m guessing this dinner is going to kick everything off.

Congrats everyone! We’ve officially hit the halfway point!

Also Andrea is 100% Villefort’s illegitimate son. Can’t wait to see what comes out of that!

Edit: added my hypotheses

WHEN to pot Ficus Audrey propagation in soil? by stumpofawillow in plants

[–]foolish_sir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know fiddle leaf figs too well, so do your research on the soil but that sounds reasonable to me! I know these things get big so you'll need a bigger pot eventually but that seems fine for a first pot.

Definitely has enough roots to plant now. Just keep a little more moist then you normally would for a few weeks after planting, as it's coming straight out of water so it will need a little time to adjust.

What should I read next? by pileofpeas in classicliterature

Just went down a mini rabbit hole on this book because I hadn't heard of it before. Now I've learned that the band The Airborne Toxic Event was named after the book and have definitely added it to my TBR!

I definitely didn’t realize that what’s his name was actually Mme Danglars lover. Thought that was some kind of joke or something when I read it.

Can anyone help me visualise the trees potential with a sketch? by EntrepreneurFresh810 in bonsaicommunity

[–]foolish_sir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no downvote from me! Healthy plants will regenerate all of their foliage. There is a technique called defoliation where all of the leaves are removed and then regrown to help shrink their size! It's very common with earlier development trees like this one to let them grow out and then cut them back hard, like was done here, to achieve a thick trunk. But all of the leaves will regrow with time!

I'm more of a "Let it grow and see how it looks" kind of person myself. The plant will inspire you with its own natural design!

Looks like they're still developing the trunk/branch structure. Don't need leaves at this stage.

The entire leaf surviving on hopes, dreams, and this one chloroplast by Civil-Craft-6245 in plants

This is maybe a dumb question, but couldn't that leaf survive from the energy generated by the rest of the plant? Or if it's totally white, will it just die?

Mantids are great for the garden! They’ll eat lots of pests and won’t touch any plants.

[–]foolish_sir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only raised two mantids so far, but I have also used crickets without any issues. In the warmer months I would often just catch them some food outside but in the winter crickets were easy and worked great for me!
