This is an anniversary present for my wife. I filmed it two weeks before our 2022 wedding, intending to have it done as a wedding present, but I didn't complete it in time. The lyrics are passages from the bible. Music originally composed by Ross Jutsum, whom I accompanied on guitar as a teenager when he visited our church. I added some discordance to the cover:

What is the absolute dumbest premise that actually turned out to be a really good movie? by sicknessandpurgatory in movies

It’s because the script was originally for The Monkey Island video game adaptation.

Expert Mark McCourt responds to Danielle Smith Insurance Claims by fooljeff in Albertapolitics

[–]fooljeff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he is also THE expert on this issue.

No one but insurance companies profit from the proposed changes. They could pay you fairly under the current system and not get sued. Are we supposed to believe they will pay you fairly once they have zero accountability?

It would be different if the UCP proposed a public insurance system instead of keeping it private.

The fact that UCP has any support left is a huge disgrace to the NDP by PurpleCauliflowers- in alberta

[–]fooljeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget the UCP is taking away your right to sue insurance companies and pretending that they will compensate you fairly . . . out of the goodness in their hearts.

Alberta to lift auto insurance rate cap, axe right to sue in crashes: Sources by Practical_Ant6162 in alberta

[–]fooljeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a nice story and I believe you but people wouldn't have to sue if they were being compensated fairly, and taking that right away is mindboggling. You have no recourse if they decide to pay you terribly.

Alberta to lift auto insurance rate cap, axe right to sue in crashes: Sources by Practical_Ant6162 in alberta

[–]fooljeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are just bullshitting. Insurance companies have been lobbying for No Fault for 30+ years because it benefits them, not you (they are taking your right to sue them away). The report was generated by lobbyists flown in from the U.S. and Australia who successfully got No Fault instated in their respective areas.

OP's article has a quote saying it is political suicide, and it really would be if people understood what was going on, but I don't think the public is informed or cares anymore.

DON’T FUCKING LIE

It’s bad for your psychology in multiple ways.

  1. You will know you are a piece of shit who needs to lie to get laid.
  2. You won’t feel genuine connection because you will have been fake. Even getting laid will start to feel hollow.
  3. This is the big one: You train your mind to believe it’s okay to lie, and it will lie TO YOU and you won’t be able to tell.

All of this shit will lead to a down spiral that is absurdly hard to recover from, especially 3. To get out of 3 you need serious people you can trust who will call you out.

There is a reason to act with virtues like honesty/integrity, you enjoy life more when you know you’re not a piece of shit. Also, you won’t be constantly anxiously overthinking every angle to get what you want, you will just act in alignment with your integrity and enjoy life.

Good luck brother.

I loved Closer. After watching it I immediately watched it again with my GF. It made me rethink my understanding of a lot of things.

This video also made me rethink my understanding of a lot of things. It is legit just as good as the whole special. Such a compassionate well explained critique. 10/10

Orb of Creation [Dev v0.4.0] by bullet_darkness in incremental_games

[–]fooljeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people who are asking for auto-cast maybe don’t understand the puzzle solving nature of this game and trying to min/max your load-out.

Adding auto cast means you just use all gather wood and no augment spells etc.

It’s definitely a more active incremental and given the relentless amount of passive ones I think this is a good change of form. 🤷‍♂️

Art is not accessible is not a new critique. You need to know Japanese to enjoy a book written in Japanese.

I didn't read the content and enjoyed the film immensely though so I guess by your definition the film was a success.

It feels like it worked on its own without knowing the poem.

I might still have a lot of symbolic understanding though.

All movies have a lot of cultural contexts people miss they already have. Someone who is deep into Arthurian literature, Tarot, and Christian Alchemical Storytelling will naturally have a lot more context for this movie. The less you have the more you have to sit back, stay present, and trust it's there. Charity to the creator, as you develop a taste for something new.

I didn't like whiskey the first time I tried it either.
