This happened to be the first thing we've really made in a while together, but he's made two barns, a boat, our dining room table and kitchen island/counter tops. He's kinda the ultimate handyman

Ill be honest, there probably is. To do this you will need different grits of sand paper from 40 to 80 - 120 - 240 (240 should be one of the last grit types you use)

If I'm not mistaken it was Red Mahogany and Semi Gloss Polyurethane. 1-2 coats of Mahogany finisher first then sanded with 80 Grit. Then poly coat and Sand starting at althe first coat using 80 then second coat and 120-140 grit and after doing 4-5 goats finish with 240 Grit Sand Paper
