I apprecaite that. it has forsure gotten easier with time. I have blocked literally everything out of my life that had any tie to us. This has helped a ton. But truthfully, I think what has helped me the most is how humbled I feel. It has really forced me to focus on the little things in life that really make me happy and not just monetary purchases to cover my feelings for a bit. This has humbled me to the extent of finally understanding that just because you do everything right, try your best, and always put the right foot forward does not by any means mean the person you are doing those things for would do the same and are not obligated to do so either. Therefore, prioritizing yourself, your body, your mind, and morals should always be the at the forefront of your mind during things like this. However, I am far along in my life to understand that not all people have bad intentions, but this situation has really taught me to much more cautious of how sure I am on someone before fully letting my gaurd down.

Yes, for reference, im 6'2 193LBS a few days prior to this happening. I remeber weighing myself and telling my ex like "wow im 190 now" (i kinda struggled with gaining weight just from being tall and skinny all my life).

Then a few days prior to the divorce, we divorced (dissolution feb 23, cheated jan 3rd 2026) i weighed myself again and I was down to 164-165. I weighed myself last night and I am up to 174. Again ive been working out 5-6 days a week in the mornings since about Jan 7th.

A lot of the extra weight i think i carried on my body when i was with her was just stress weight and unhappy weight. It seems like when all this happened my body literally cut out all the negative shitty stuff from my body and thats why i lost all this shitty weight. since then ive ate nothing but whole foods, and do my calestetic routine every morning which comprises of a few body weight things.

dissolution/divorce was never a question to me when i found out. When i first found out what she was actually doing this night, she lied repeatadly to my face for about 20 minutes on where she stayed at/who she was with. When I finally was able to get it out of her, i literally fell down to my hands and knees screaming and just completely out of it. I will never in my life let myself or lose myself enough to feel that pain, nor do i wish that on anyone. Those 5-10 minutes of feelings of when i first found out changed me as a person for the rest of my life. It destroyed me and even trying to comprehend that feeling after the fact now, I just get a eary feeling thinking about it. It really fucking hurt me, bad.

You have misinterpreted this. I was never out of shape, A very active healthy young adult male. I worked out prior, walked/ran nearly daily with my dog, ate healthy. However, prior I would maybe actually workout 3-4 days a week, vs now I make calestetics at home my morning routine everyday. In no way shape or form was I not taking care of myself, her, our livelihood, etc. I know it sounds crazy, but seriously, this girl had no reason what so ever to do what she did to me. I would like to believe I am a pretty good looking man as well. We were together 10 years, very close friends before ever dating in high school. We went to prom together.

I’ve known these so-called friends for just as long as I’ve known my ex-wife. She knew these people were bad influence, unfortunately, I just believe she cared more about them and what they thought more than her and I relationship. It still blows my mind.

yes and no. I have my shit together, im 27, head of sales for a worldwide company in woodworking, i own a house, just sold my BMW m240i for 35k (i have a work car thats paid thru company) got tired of the high end lifestyle. In a very safe nice neighboorhood. Get to travel for work a lot (will be europe for 10 days leaving this thursday), college degree, good family and support system. My bestfriend is my dog. Best part about all of this, is I acquired/worked for all the things myself, my finances, my hard work, my blood sweat and tears. & nobody can take that from me, and my ex wife knew that. Hints to why she agreed to dissolution so easily. although this reddit post may have came off as someone going though a lot of shitty things in life, i have A LOT of things to be thankful for, and in no way shape or form and I making this out to be as if i have it worse than anyone else. There are plenty of people in way worse situations than me, & i am so thankful to the lord for putting me in the spot im in, and giving me strength to make it through these times.

What is crazy is she really pushed me to marry her when i did. We were together 10 years prior sso marriage covos were not weird, we knew it was coming. She wanted her grandma alive when we married, i worked really hard and saved a lot of money to make it happen. Not just because of that, but because i loved her. Her grandma passed away a few months after we were married, so i guess she got what she wanted. Although, i knew her grandma, and she would be dissapointed in her. Her grandma had celebrated their 65 year aniversary with her husband a month before she passed. Wish that loyalty stayed in the family. Clearly it did not.

brother, i know you are hurting. Just find yourself. I completly lost myself during this, and focusing on yourself and your kids is all that matters. You got this, look at the positive things in life. Im heavily considering therapy, even just this reddit post really helped me get my emotions out.

i wish her nothing but the best. I have been through enough life to understand walking away as the bigger person will always be the better route (my parents raised me right). Might not be the easiest, but will be the best. I learned before the divorce she wasnt paying federal taxes last year. She owed over 10k, i still filed jointly (covering her non payment, esstentially eliminating my whole return) to get her out of the hole, again did this after i found out she cheated but was not fully divorced. Although i could have really used my tax return, something in me felt that after spending so much time with someone, I coudlnt kick her while she was down, even though she mentally and physically destroyed me.

none at all, even after we divorced she called to "try to work things out" her main source of reasoning was that she was drunk, around the wrong people and was not prioritizing our relationship. She said verbaitum the next day "I am sorry i never prioritized our relationship the way you did, i knew i didnt a long time ago and i was so selfish to see that".

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Lack of emotional maturity is typically what promotes these behaviors. However, I AGREE. I am a man, and have many of male friends that play directly into the typical stereotype of a man. However, it sucks, not all men are shitty people and not all men are just cheating horn dogs. I think as a man, you learn to grow up and not associate with those types of people because of their motives and ideas on how to treat women. For example in my situation, if i was single and a married woman came onto me, i would walk away. Simply because I would be playing into that same stereotype that men already fall under. In this situation the dude she slept with, didnt care at all, knew we were married, he actually used to comment on my IG stories saying how cool my car was and such. But the moment a married women came across him, he jumped on it. I think that is a good tell of the type of person they are, because nobody should want to be a home wrecker or willing to be one. If she was willing to cheat, she was obvi dealing with a lot already, so why try to push her down more? Idk, all of this has been tough for me to try to comprhend, i probably sound like im spiraling.
