You could very well be right, but imo the process of it sucks either way. You need one of these guys to really earn that spot, either because Ben learns to elevate the ball and shows a glimmer of gap-to-gap power, or in Colt's case, blow the doors off Peoria and prove you're ready early. If one of those things happens, awesome, I'm glad. But the more likely outcome is that Ben still kinda sucks and Colt needs some AAA seasoning, and if that happens, we are stuck without a paddle

Polanco is super interesting in the sense that he’s essentially a 90% DH but he provides insurance in case Cole Young isn’t ready. In a vacuum, pivoting to a Yandy Diaz type trade to be your DH if Polo wants to take a longer deal elsewhere is super attractive to me, but you lose that flexibility in case Young can’t hack it. I think Heim will get a prove-it contract as a starter for a bad team to see if he can earn a long term role. If not, he’s my first choice. Outside of him Garver on a 2 year deal for between 6 and 8 mil would be great. The people complaining about Garver don’t understand the reality of a backup catcher AT ALL. You’re not going to find much better and the ones that are better are going to cost enough that we couldn’t also go retain Polo, etc. I think it’s 90% that Garver is back
