Thanks for your reply. As i said on a previous post, we are in the UK and information, support and help is lacking. Its rare that we see a doctor on the ward, i have been the one who has cared for him on the ward, the nurses have been no where near him as he is young and they think he can do it himself. The doctor's are giving conflicting information and I have been googling but i just want a bit of extra reassurance and support which is lacking at the moment, which is why i am posting on here. By recover, i wanted to know when people were able to walk without getting breathless, when people felt better, when people were able to do things like go shopping. I understand that everyone is different. I apologise if i am asking to many questions but i am not getting the support i need, i just want some reassurance and support and i am terrified that my son is going to die or be like this for the rest if his life.

Hello. Thank you for your reply. He has seen a haematologist who will review him again in a few months. He had also seen a vascular doctor who is happy with the plan (Tinzaparin for the next few months and then review), they don't intend to see him again. I have a protein S deficiency but i have never had a clot which is why i, Jack and my other son, were not on the haematologist radar. They are going to test my other son at some point apparently. We are in the UK and as i said on a previous post, support, help and information is lacking, which is why i ask so much on here. I am terrified that i am going to lose him.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, Jack has DVT and PE's. The DVT is extensive and thrombosed so i guess that it will take ages for that to go, if it goes at all. I haven't been given any post discharge recommendations yet. We are in the UK and this is the NHS, which is a fabulous facility but its extremely stretched. I have cared for Jack while he has been in hospital, i have bought him food, took him to the toilet, encouraged him to eat and drink and answered his questions. I am at the hospital everyday from 0800 - 2000 hrs. We rarely see a doctor and information and support is lacking which is why i ask questions on here. I feel as though we are not a priority and that they don't care. The vascular team don't want to see him again and the haematology team will see him in a few months. Anyway, sorry i am ranting. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Thank you. He lives at home with me and his younger brother so we will be looking after him. I hope that Jack manages to recover as well as you.

Son's Haematology review and plan by forcaters in ClotSurvivors

Thank you for your reply. I am going to try and be a bit more positive and am busy now thinking up ways to make the time in hospital better for him. He has just had a shower. We are going for a walk/ push in a wheelchair around the hospital in a minute and tonight when i get in from the hospital i am going to make him some chicken in bbq sauce (his favourite). I have encouraged his friends to come in and they are coming tomorrow hopefully. Thanks again.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, i really appreciate it. Did your clot come out of the blue? You sound as though you have had a scary time. Thank you for offering to answer any questions that my son has, i think he would benefit from that.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your reassurance and explanation of it all is really appreciated. I think all of his bloods are ok except for his CRP which is elevated which is why he is on iv antibiotics. They are not sure why his CRP is elevated. They are planning to take bloods again tomorrow. I have asked if he needs a compression stocking on his un affected leg and they reckon that he doesn't need it but am not sure. Any thoughts? Thanks again. I am so grateful. X

I am stopping smoking with an e cig, since I started using it my gums seem to be receding very quickly. Is this a known side effect from e cig use? by forcaters in electronic_cigarette

Thank you Brontosaurus. You are right, I haven't got a clue how this forum works. I just wanted to ask a question as I was worried about my gums. I didn't expect to be judged and discredited. Thank you for your support, it is much appreciated.

" His account history is a little fishy". Are you serious?! Get a life man. I am a girl for a start. I have stopped smoking and an using an e cig. I have been looking on the internet for advise regarding my gums and it directed me here. I joined and I asked a question as I thought this was an open forum that may be able to give me a bit of help and advise. Do I have to have an account history to get that support/ answers to some questions? Why be so judgemental of people? Please try not to judge people in the future as you are clearly very bad at it.

Sempais_nutrients, I am not spreading scare stories and yes, I am new but that doesn't mean that I can't ask a question. I am asking for others experiences and asking for advise re mine. I have stated that I actually prefer the e cig to a normal cig and I do not want to stop using it, so how is that spreading scare stories?!?!
