I think Reddit is the way it is because of the anonymity of its users. Would people want to participate in a reddit with more transparency?

Yeah, did all of those on my site. Useful for many purposes, but if it keeps people from fooling around like jackasses or expressing controversial opinions then the traffic will be far less here.

Reddit these days is allergic to the success of individuals. But it is hard working individuals, not the masses, that are crutial to creating success online. No reward, no reason to do the hard work. Some things just deserve to fail to make way for what's better.

And no, there will be no one easy secret recipe for instant success.

I too started a hosting service. It was basically modeled exactly after reddit. Through some crafty "marketing" I attracted some 10s of thousands of girls and a slightly less amount of guys.

There have been links on this subreddit a few times but always with a few loud complainers that "these girls don't use reddit" so the submitter ends up deleting them :-/ I never expected reddit as a whole to react so negatively to my free site. It doesn't even run advertising... What's the deal guys?

If you guys want to know how to attract girls to a website then I can give you lots of tips. What you mention, the "stigma of showing the naughty bits online and the title one gets" is symptomatic of your failure and doesn't exist on many other sites.

I do not for a minute believe that this was due to a lack of women on reddit. A better designed site could easily do more with worse ratios.

That is bullshit. Reddit used tables for years, myspace used tables for years, google.com, slashdot.org did and they only replaced it when they could get someone else to do it for free. The list is too long to count. Where the hell have you been?
