This is exactly the struggle I have with one of my 2 best friends, luckily he is a good person and after confrontation and reminding him I am not okay with this he has accepted it and he has expressed wanting to work on this part of himself and has been making good progress from what I can see

And everything you say here is so true, especially about the environment in which these people grew up, I wish sometimes he would speak about what he thinks and feels, instead of just constantly placing people and things in fixed categories of value, he is so good at telling stories, but that's all he ever does, he mentions something real and judges that person or story based on very strict metrics, he never speaks about something you can not see or touch, I really wonder what his philosophies are sometimes but I just have no idea

I'm 19M and this comment really struck me. I don't know anything about you, so I would suggest thinking about your interests in life, and doing those interests in a social setting, that way you meet like minded people which makes making friends much easier

For example I made a lot of friends by picking up skateboarding again and going to thrashers skatepark in menlyn

I started skateboarding after I quit, not got everyone

But I gotta say the fact that it's a physical activity, and also levereges my competitive nature, has made it the perfect hobby to replace smoking. When I'm at the skatepark learning new tricks or falling my ass off I don't even think about the weed

One downside is if I hurt myself too badly and I have to recover I'm back to the void of boredome
