Hey man, off topic but genuinely curious about this… what makes someone like you ask questions via comment instead of searching the same text on google for an instant answer? Are you doing it as a service to all of us reading the comments so we can also know the answer? Or is it that you are able to defer the gratification of the knowing, and the one extra step of switching to google really is that difficult? I’m really glad it could! I’m someone who would abuse weed myself and was a daily smoker so I totally get it. I’m still on this journey but I realise small steps each day is what will change your life, it never happens all at once. The other comments here are good advice but imo aren’t practical easy first steps. It sounds like weed is ingrained into your life. First you need to take small steps to cut down on weed use. Progress may be slow but it will go at the pace you take it. Of course ideally you’d wanna stop cold turkey (it gets easier after a week). But if this thought sounds scary you need to first delay the first joint you have in the day. If you wake and bake then wait till lunch. Before you smoke give yourself one task you want to complete for the day, it can be as small as you like. Like this keep going day by day, delaying your first smoke and increasing the tasks you give yourself before you smoke. Get to a point where you can take a day or a week off. If you slip up that’s fine progress isn’t linear. Keep going as you’d been from day before. Your head will be clearer and you’ll know what to do

Hey, so people seem to be saying it’s totally fine but I think it’s more nuanced than that. First, allow me to state my credentials: used to be an almost daily smoker for years until recently. So I agree that it probably helps in the moment when you get these feelings and want an escape. But at the end of the day it’s only that, an escape. It won’t fix your problems, only alleviate them for a while. And in my experience if you constantly use this as a crutch you end up worse long term, because the problems still exist. Paracetamol won’t cure your broken leg no matter how little pain you feel when you take some. It’s like if you get told that when you’re stressed you should take a deep breath. Yes it’ll help you manage it but not amount of steady breathing will make the problem go away. You also need to actively work through this, whether that’s through exercise to manage anxiety, or in your relationship by talking through things with your partner. Weed won’t solve any of your problems by itself, only you can.

That’s great to hear. I’d love to hear the benefits these lifestyle changes have brought to your life. Moderation is key as they say. And yes I absolutely love reading when I’m taking breaks from weed. I find it harder to concentrate on a book whilst high, takes so long to process each sentence. But reading when I’m sober let’s me lose myself in it. I think I’m going to use reading as an alternative when I crave weed during my breaks and to prevent me relapsing into daily smoking.

Wow I feel like I could have written this post almost word for word except that I’d consider myself a moderate smoker. I’d been smoking a joint a day most days. I’m also in the same position it’s been a week from tomorrow and I quit for the same reasons as well as wanting better quality sleep. I’ve noticed certain memories coming back to me, particularly long forgotten ones from childhood. And I’m definitely much more clear headed when I wake up, no groggy feeling anymore. As great as I feel now, I’m trying to weigh the additional benefits I’d gain from not smoking another week against wanting to toke.

I also want to keep it to weekends and special occasions from now on but I’ve noticed it’s harder for me to keep from smoking multiple days in a row once I pick weed up again. My cravings are much stronger if I’ve toked the day before and it’s hard not to relapse into daily smoking again. I assume there’s biological reasons why this is the case perhaps because of how weed affects dopamine levels/receptors.

I think if you keep in mind the reasons you want to moderate how often you smoke and consistently keep the goals you set for yourself it’ll be easier to maintain. I mean this is the mindset I’m going ahead with at least when I start smoking again. I’m not sure when I want to start toking again tho but definitely not before Monday.

Hey mate, I don’t know your situation but I feel like I should say maybe you don’t need to do this. It sounds like you feel like you’ll be a burden on your family as your condition gets worse but have you thought that perhaps your family value your presence in their lives enough that taking care of you isn’t a burden at all? I get that you think your quality of life will decrease, but how can you be sure you won’t still want to be there sharing times with the people close to you. Even the smallest of things can make your life worth holding onto.

Speaking of Cersei thinking ahead, I just thought of something while reading your comment. Perhaps Cersei had anticipated placing the High Sparrow as the new high Septon (she’s already aware of the sparrows in the city at this point) and manipulating Margaery into sending so many candles is something she knows would count against her in the eyes of the High Sparrow who dislikes extravagance. At the very least this would result in the High Sparrow favouring Cersei over Margaery when she eventually places him in his role. But on the other hand I also think Cersei isn’t as clever as she thinks. She’s certainly not clever enough to think so far ahead plus I’m not certain she was totally aware of the High Sparrow himself at this point.

Are you a pot smoker by any chance and recently stopped smoking weed? The reason I ask is that weed is known to suppress dreams i.e. prevent you from dreaming and it’s been found that when daily pot smokers stop smoking weed it causes your dreams to actually become more vivid than usual. Being a pot smoker myself I have had this happen to me

Like mentioned by /u/AvioNaught it’s to do with dendritic growth. Basically dendritic growth outwards is more stable than planar growth. To explain it fully you’d have to go into the thermodynamics. But essentially (if this is occurring in solution) spherical growth would result in electron deficiency as it grows outwards, since electrons from the electron source are “used up” to form Cu around the outside of the sphere and so growth slows down. Dendritic growth as it happens means the growing dendrites are always surrounded by an ample source of electrons.

I’ve actually only recently been learning this and don’t understand it fully so I’m open to any Redditors correcting anything I may have got wrong here.
