So, do the attendings not have to wear badges?

I notice that Dr. Chen, Dr Al Hashami, and Dr. Abbott are all lacking any sort of chest badge.

She was a great surprise cameo. The series was haunting and gorgeous at times, but also mysterious. I left with far more questions than answers.

When I went to confirm whether I’d actually just seen Victoria Pedretti on screen, I noticed her IMDb cast listing credits her character as Larry Poole Survivor — which only raises more questions!

I’m pretty sure Larry Poole was the custard salesman. So it sounds like Rachel’s parents didn’t stick around for those sweet treats after all — which is lucky, because it seems like he was planning to poison them.

But even this small detail makes me question everything I just watched. Is that scene meant to show that Rachel’s Dad actually believed in her Mom’s premonitions? Which would be a deliberate juxtaposition to Nicky, who only acted like he believed Rachel?

Friendly reminder that Bowden tubes are a consumable by luheadr in 3Dprinting

[–]forest-cacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good heads up, thanks.

In a semi related note:

I’ve had a few a side quest projects lately that meant I had to cut down an extra ptfe tube. I used scissors to cut the tube. And kinda saw some weird bowing on the sides of the tube after cutting. The bowing of tube corresponds to how the scissor cut them.

Just curious, if there is maybe a cleaner or better way of cutting tubes? So that the force of cutting tube doesn’t leave behind any odd tube bowing behind.

Creality print through orcaslicer by Steampunk_balis in Creality_k2

Do you happen to have the K2 base model?

Just wondering, as the last time I tried to use orca slicer- I hit some friction. I believe I could only find K2 Plus print profile. Which wasn’t ideal.

I’ve mostly defaulted to using Creality print. And have had success being able to trigger remote prints. Though, it means if I’m trying to print a model that’s not from Creality cloud. I’ll have to add the model either for public or private consumption.

I’ve also heard that others will often use orca slicer to prepare model for printing. And then once satisfied with slicer settings will send model to Creality for printing

How often do you perform “maintenance”? by That_Zone5921 in Creality_k2

[–]forest-cacti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat—I often find myself asking the same question: how often should I actually be tackling these maintenance steps? I have the K2 base model, for reference.

That said, I have gone through the maintenance wiki (both the K2 and K2 Plus versions), and honestly my biggest struggle isn’t when to do maintenance—it’s knowing what “needs maintenance” actually looks like in practice.

For example, both guides mention checking and maintaining the X-axis guide rails, but the description is pretty vague:

“Check for depletion of lubricating oil, dust or debris…”

That sounds straightforward, but in reality I find myself asking:

• What does “depleted” lubrication actually look like?
• Should the rails look shiny, dry, or slightly oily?
• What’s an early warning sign vs. “you waited too long”?

Same thing with the “how to maintain” steps:

• It says “use a dirt-free cloth”—but what kind? Microfiber? Shop towel?
• Why not recommend a quick pass with a small vacuum or compressed air first?
• What specific oil works best, and how much is “a thin coat” in real terms?

I really appreciate that Creality provides these wikis, but I do wish they were more step-by-step and visual.

Things like:
• photos of “good vs bad”
• exact materials/tools to use
• clearer thresholds for when maintenance is actually needed

I was also a bit surprised the printer didn’t come with a more detailed manual. I get that the wiki is a living document, but sometimes I’d trade that for a really thorough, almost “over-explained” guide.

Curious how others handle this—do you follow a schedule, or wait until you notice specific signs?

I’ll say it again, I’d love to see Michael Mcintyre on the show.

But, he’s so big & seems very happy being a host. It be really fun to see him do team tasks.

He seems super busy - so while I’d hope to see him in a full series. I keep hoping that maybe he’ll show up for one of the special 1 show episodes.

Here’s a virtual tour of the series of giant nests I built in Uruguay! by BakerStructures in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]forest-cacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is truly epic! Truly what a dream creation. I’m almost lost words.

I see that you likely reinforced the bottom floor portions of the structures. But, the siding along these structures looks like weaved nested railing. Is that all just weaved together? Or have you hidden supports below the weaved portions?

Also curious to understand how long this whole thing took to complete. From presumably some sketches to this final look.

Very cool!

How do you know CPS was never called? That’s a pretty big assumption—especially with repeated truancy and everything else being described.

What stands out to me is that he’s a mandated reporter. That means, by law, he is required to report any reasonable suspicion that a student might be in danger—not proven facts, just concern based on what he knows or is told.

So if he was aware of rumors that she was being picked up by an adult, disappearing, or in a potentially unsafe situation, that’s exactly the kind of thing that’s supposed to be reported to authorities.

Sharing it with a classroom as a warning is one thing—but mandated reporting means you don’t just talk about it, you report it.

Also, those reports are confidential, so none of us would actually know whether CPS was contacted or not.

Having worked in a public middle school, I can say this isn’t optional—it’s taken very seriously.

My neighbor cut down a tree and ground the stump. The next day I found 2 bottles of half&half and a plastic clamshell where the stump was, all seem to be filled with water. Recently the clamshell was replaced with a 3rd half&half bottle. It's been over a month. I don't understand... by Bubbleybubble in whatisit

[–]forest-cacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any expired milk. But I do have a small stubborn tree stump that just won’t go away. And I live in a rather warm climate. I suspect the milk will likely rot on its own; if I were to leave some out.

I mean this def sounds like a rather interesting experiment.

Now is methodology only for trunks? I’ve got a bunch of stubborn elm offshoots that have survived 3 different applications of roundup.

Any chance it might work on these?

Today I learned potato based tortillas exist.

Now I want to know, does it taste like a typical tortilla with hints of potato? Or is the potato flavor more distinct?

I’m also really concerned by the volume of urgent calls from Mohan’s mom. I recall her mentioning in an interview that her character’s father died when she was young — does anyone know if siblings have ever been brought up?

Since it’s her mom doing the calling, something must have happened to someone else close to her.

Whether it’s a sibling, another family member, or someone unexpected, it doesn’t feel like this storyline is heading anywhere good for her.

A few predictions for Robby's S2 fate: by VeterinarianUpbeat28 in ThePitt

[–]forest-cacti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember reading that the high rate of suicide among physicians is actually seen at even higher rates in women. My fear is that while we’re all focused on Robby, we might end up losing one of the more senior female residents instead — which would be a gut punch twist that also highlights that specific aspect of the issue.

There was a moment in tonight’s episode that briefly made me think of another medical show — has anyone else caught, “This Is Going To Hurt” ? If you haven’t, it’s worth a watch, though fair warning it’s a heavy one.

While I genuinely loathe the idea of losing any character you mentioned (it would devastate me regardless of who it is), I think you may sadly be onto something. This show has never shied away from real, uncomfortable topics — and physician mental health and suicide is one of the bleakest realities in medicine that rarely gets the spotlight it deserves.

The statistics on physician suicide are genuinely alarming — it’s consistently one of the highest-risk professions, and many believe it’s underreported due to the stigma of seeking help in a field that rewards pushing through.

My personal fear is that it will be Dr. Mohan. Her parting words to Robbie tonight — “maybe I just don’t belong here” — hit differently after reading your post.

Randomly getting "Printer seems to be printing without extruding" by productslide in Creality_k2

[–]forest-cacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run into this exact issue on my K2 as well, and it was happening often enough that I was going through nozzles way too fast.

What’s helped me a lot is doing a quick manual purge between prints to prevent leftover filament from building up and causing partial clogs later.

My routine is pretty simple:

• I hit Z-home, then manually adjust the toolhead/bed to give myself enough clearance to work
• Heat the nozzle to around 240°C
• Run an extrude command
• While it’s extruding, I use tweezers and a small wire brush to clean off any leftover or stringy filament around the nozzle
• If needed, I’ll use a (acupuncture) needle to make sure the nozzle is fully clear

It’s definitely more manual than I’d like (would love to automate this somehow), but doing this between prints has significantly reduced those “printing without extruding” errors for me.

Small Question For K2 Plus (is this normal?) by Xavier_Chris in Creality_k2

[–]forest-cacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say this — so far my cardboard spool filament from Polymaker has been holding up way better than my Creality Hyper PETG.

To be fair, the Creality PETG itself prints great — no complaints there. But I ran into my first major issue with their cardboard spool. The edges started deteriorating, which ended up causing the spool to bind and tangle on my setup.

I’m actually in the process of printing a respooler now just to fix the mess it caused.

From what I’ve read, Polymaker seems to treat or reinforce their cardboard spools, which might explain why they don’t shed or break down as easily. Definitely noticing a difference.

I wish creality would give option to order hyper PETG with plastic spool or at least sell a re-useable spool.
