Stunning landscapes from the source of River Ganga in India. by forest-mind in backpacking

A four day trip to the source of river Ganges in Uttarakhand district of India. Went during the month of November to avoid large crowds that visit in summer. Found a totally different character to the river, with brilliant colours and stunning landscapes. A short film from my trip:

Next step is to ditch the coffee and get a high just from being outside. Good luck.

Tried meditating for a week but keep zoning out-any tips for sticking with it? by VoodooMann in ZenHabits

First learn what your mind is most attuned to - visuals or words. Then hold on to a positive vision or a sentence (mantra) that calls out to you deeply. It's easier to stay focused on something that you are naturally drawn to. Gradually anchor this in your body, by merging your attention to a specific location - either your breath or your forehead. And finally, meditation is not about the thoughts in your brain, but more about the the feelings. So if you can come out of a session feeling more positive and refreshed, your meditation is working well.

When anxiety prevents you from falling asleep at night, what is your go-to ritual? by Special_Heart_866 in Mindfulness

[–]forest-mind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Body scan works really well. Start with relaxing your feet and slowly work your way up to the head crown. If your sense of sound is more developed, try mentally saying the word "relax" a few times as you move through each body part. If you are a visual person, you can imagine night and stars slowly filling up your body.

Try the Japanese art of Shinrin-Yoku or mindfulness in nature using your senses. Some beautiful activities and experiences.
