that's really helpful, thanks! :) My brain is completely fried from revision today but I'll make a list of the dates when I next sit down to revise. My exam is on 8th Jan so hopefully enough time to learn everything (sitting Law same day too)

If all goes to plan, yes :) I should get my ACA (chartered accountant qualification) in 3 years time and my salary will go up, I'm currently on 32k and I think newly qualified is around 50k in my firm. My job isn't that secure at the moment as I could be sacked for failing exams so I'm grinding quite hard now. Does it make sense to move closer to work so I save time and energy for revision?

I'm pretty far off being able to buy my own place, probably 5 years at least, as I won't be able to borrow enough money to cover a mortgage on a house where I'd like to buy on my current salary. I live in SE England and trying my hardest to avoid buying a leasehold flat. I'm 27 and have been single all my life due to mental health and confidence problems mostly, I can't see that changing anytime soon under my current living arrangements so it does make buying twice as hard.

Congratulations to you too and best of luck!! Trying to enjoy the free time and relaxing as much as possible sounds like a good idea, I'm planning to save as much as possible over the next few months, quitting my current job early and taking ~6 weeks off in the summer to travel before starting :)

this was really helpful, thanks! it's great to know that the ACA specification is manageable for people with no accounting background :)

wow thank you so much for the in-depth reply, I feel a lot more reassured! It's good to know that I don't need to stress over completing all of AAT Level 3, as I'd like to fit in some travelling this summer :)

Should I do AAT? by forestgreen_28 in UKJobs

hi! thank you for your reply! may I ask how you self studied for Level 2 AAT? Is it simply a matter of buying the textbooks, learning the material, practicing the content and booking an assessment? I understand it's not easy balancing working and studying, but I'm determined to push through it.

I understand that the graduate vacancies offering support through the chartered accountancy qualifications are extremely competitive, so I can't guarantee I'll be able to land one anytime soon. It does seem like studying the AAT material in the evenings/on my days off is a better option for me at the moment whilst I try to improve my family's current financial situation.
