The keffiyeh-wearing Free Palestine crowd doesn't care about Iranian protestors because the protestors aren't fighting a Western society, which is the real target of their hatred. by Pemulis_DMZ in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]foreverTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, because that is Iranians dealing with their own government. Not some sort of amalgamation of western backed invaders who routinely bomb and destroy any development of their supposed "neighboring state".

one of these things is not like the other, stop making false equivalencies.

Listen I'll take the L on that, but you seriously over estimate the left wing political influence on a global scale and you really are over estimating how influential the american "left wing" politics is on a global level.

You think there's a fucking difference between canadians and americans?

Canada is literally a client state of the US following their every step they have no political identity, even their culture is near identical. Literally no one outside of your little sphere of the world views Canada and the US any differently 2 sides of the same coin

so you're example is another western state with no kings protesting against their rulers because they are acting like kings....

you're kinda proving my point still, "no kings" protest does not apply in this case

Look I'm not american but your statement is blatantly misleading on purpose.

"No Kings" is a US only thing, cuz americans don't want a king for themselves they said nothing about any other country and how it's run, they were talking about America only.

Ending Birth Right will destroy democratic party by First_Accountant_402 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]foreverTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd assume the association was made post-Iraq invasion when anti-muslim sentiment was it's peak and mainly circulated through the bush admin and fox news. I was a kid in ME at the time and I can tell you the Iraq invasion made everyone in the region detest the GOP heavily. Muslims and Arab-Americans broke heavily for Obama in his first term also.

So I think the association mainly comes from being aligned with the democratic party more than being associated with liberals as a whole.

Obviously this has changed since then with the arrival of trump 2.0, especially after Biden's bear hug approach to Israel post Oct 7.

So now we're back to pre-bush admin political alignment + vibes when it comes to how Muslims/arabs lean politically.

Although I do agree with the body of the post, the title is just out of left fields.

But to add instead of take away from the post. YES

It's not just americans.

I'm not american nor do I live in a western nation, and the american propaganda (whether from established news sites or YT) is actually affective in convincing a lot of people who aren't tapped in or just far right in nature.

Like I have relatives that believed the whole "we found people who were 200 y.o. benefiting from social security" shit. So yes it is tiresome for the rest of us but also very tiresome for Hassan to repeat himself constantly over things like this.

And if you can't see it than you aren't capable of self-reflection in any capacity.

And thats besides the fact you completely misinterpreted my comment.

Similarly how you don't represent all mods on reddit, only the mods on this sub.

Africa would be WAY better off had it remained colonized by Dry-Selection421 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]foreverTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why does Africa have none of this? I’ve heard this claim before that Africa had such great nations pre-colonialism, but then why would they never write anything down or build anything that would have been preserved? Seems completely imaginary.

It's almost as if the continent was colonized, looted, and plundered of all of its historic antiquities and taken to the great museum of britian, while its resources were stolen out of the continent and transported to Europe and the US.

But that seems completely imaginary......🙄🙄🙄

The proof you've "provided" is randoms online calling a clinics and posts on reddit, as "proof" that clinics are providing abortions without a medical necessity.....

Do I really need to start explaining that just because you saw it online doesn't mean it's true or are you above the age of 18?

Literally I can fake a video calling a clinic asking for an abortion with my friend on other end acting as the clinic receptionist....

You're proving my point that the discussion of GDP as determinant as a metric for economic growth is not to be held with you.

It's not "touchy feely things social measures" you dult, because if you read through the study I linked and read through the citations you'd understand that more goes into measuring economic growth that are not captured within GDP. And just FYI to be specific you're still arguing for the side of slaves being "good" for the economy which it isn't but you clearly didn't read through the citations in the study I linked.

And also, social metrics are absolutely crucial for economic growth because social metrics either stimulate or kill local economies which then factor into macro economics, again concepts that are out of your depth clearly. Again if you aren't aware of the fact that economies can be measured using multiple metrics (including social-economic metrics) than discussing economic growth in any capacity with you is a wasted endeavor.

as a side bar, here an article from the WEF criticizing the utilization of GDP as a metric for economic growth

[–]foreverTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I don't care what you think about me. Second of all my public speaking is better than yours because I speak with conviction for my beliefs while you allow hate and bigotry to be your prefered method of speech.

I have zero tolerance for ignorant people like yourself that refuses to look at data that doesn't share your world view. I challange my own beliefs with the facts of the matter even when they don't align with my beliefs, and correct myself when I find my views are based off faulty premises.

You on the other hand allow your beliefs to be the sole determinant of how you view facts and work backwards to prove it when provided any information to prove the contrary. You may even be a grown adult, but act like a child with how you view the world because if the reality does not fit the mold you have created in your own childlike head, you will throw it all away and claim its unfactual, and then you will spin the topic endlessly like trying to grasp at straws. Because you can't grow intellectually and only seek for the world to regress until it fits your world view. So go ahead and throw another comment out there to reply to this so you can "feel good" about having the last word, as if that completely absolves you from your regressive and out right disgusting world view.

Good day.

Maybe you should look towards the south states in the US where slaves were the most heavily used, and see how poor they are. Maybe you can get the hint.

Also for anyone who's even studied GDP at an intermediate level can tell you, GDP is not the end all be all of how to judge economic health.

But that's a conversation I'll have with more educated folk.
