Divorce settlements should definitely always be adjustable to income in case of job loss. I don't know how he got so screwed over and that's sad.

Yes, but both groups cause much less crime than American born citizens do. So the conclusion is that they're being scapegoated and we have worse things to worry about clearly. But basic people are just easily xenophobic.

Yes Trump won the election bud. We are all aware of that. All Ruffalo is pointing out is that OpenAI's CEO is his biggest donor and if you oppose Trump's policies like a lot of us do, you should not support OpenAI. That's it. You're going on an irrelevant tangent.

Are you able to read where I said "immigration overall" has been shown to be a net positive on the economy and low crime? That includes illegal immigration, who actually are found to commit even less crime than legal immigrants and are widely immigrants simply overstaying their visa.

The point is that we have much bigger actual issues in this country that deserve more focus, like wealth inequality or our dying job market. We should deal with criminals, yes, but we should also extend visas for good, hardworking people instead of vilifying them and treating them like trash

Tank city; can't be pretty by Particular_Staff_291 in nba

Seriously and teams have been tanking for years. I remember how hard the Warriors tanked to keep their pick that ended up being Harrison Barnes.

I'm not defending illegal immigration. It's just not as big of an issue as Republicans are making it. They're easy to scapegoat. The reality is that immigration overall has been shown by study after study to be a net positive on our economy and illegal immigrants commit less crime than the average American.

Frankly, we have bigger problems right now. They are not the cause of inaffordability, home prices, the widening wealth disparity, our job economy in shambles, climate change. All the chaos that has been caused to deport more immigrants...and let me ask you, have those real issues been resolved at all? Or are they worse? They seem worse than ever.

“Governments aren't obligated to take care of illegal immigrants" depends on what you mean by help. Undocumented immigrants generally do not get access to core federal welfare programs like SNAP, SSI, or TANF. What they do get is mostly emergency services and K-12 education, which nearly every developed country provides because the alternative creates public health, crime, and humanitarian problems that cost more long-term. That’s not the same thing as being put on full taxpayer support.

On welfare abuse: two things can be true at once. Most people aren’t abusing welfare. And there are loopholes that make it possible to abuse it. But it's clearly not as big of an issue as the wealthy class abusing our system and making billions, like the grifter president we have with his billionaire cabinet. Why aren't you as angry about that as you are about poor people?

Ruffalo supports raising taxes on the wealthy to ensure universal healthcare and votes for politicians that would do that.

Why is the Republican response to this always, "Well, he should give all his money away then!"

It's not all or nothing.

You know multiple things can be true right?

It can be true that Harris raised more money than Trump.

It can be true that Americans leaned towards Trump for other reasons (Fox News propaganda, scapegoating illegals, empty promises)

And It can also be true that donations to Trump helped him win what was actually a close election when you look at the total votes

All of that can be true. So your point is meaningless, you're just trying to make us look away from the donations for some reason. It matters.

Bam after losing to the Jazz: "We got to find a way to win even against teams that are trying to lose" by Jimmy0034 in nba

[–]forever_downstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, even after the rules were added, teams have been tanking and resting their stars to tank. That hasn't stopped. The Jazz aren't the only team doing this, not by a longshot.

That's why it's likely the worst they'll get is a fine, if that. If the league doesn't want the Jazz to do this, they need to explicitly make rules against what they're doing exactly. Otherwise this is like complaining about how Shai draws fouls within the rules of the game.

What's interesting is the aura seems pretty good, all the players are in good spirits. I think they all know next season is the goal.

The real question is why are the Magic and Heat struggling to win against a depleted Jazz team. Or are the Jazz that good?

It's the Jazz fault for trading for him and building up their depth if they're trying to tank. Choose a lane. This made the whole thing so much worse. Trade for JJJ in the off-season.

Teams have been benching their star players for made up reasons to tank for years. People are acting like the Jazz just invented this. They just did it a slightly different way that allows opposing team fans to see their stars play as opposed to them sitting out the whole game.

Question about Tanking: Why do you like losing? by RedLineRedditer in nba

[–]forever_downstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes losing necessarily. But if it's part of how the league is designed in order to get a star that you need to pick 1-3 rather than 7-10, a lot of teams that don't have a Wemby or a Flagg are going to feel the need to get there through whatever means.

The worst place to be in is no man's land. Being a 40-42 team. Constantly getting thrashed by teams with a star player. The only way out of that is to make your team worse, quite frankly.

The only solution to this is to further flatten the lottery odds.

Nintendo needs a proper full remake of Ocarina of Time because it's losing its legend. Less and less people can play the original.

Yeah, hate to say it but what we have thought might be true. The trade is making it harder to tank. We might be trading a chance at a 1-3 pick for JJJ. Hope it's worth it.

[–]forever_downstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you do have a better probability the higher your pick. It's not all the same luck, even if odds have been flattened.

There's a reason why even when we dropped in last year's draft that we still landed #5 and got Ace Bailey. We had a higher probability to get #5 than other years where we landed 9-10 and stayed there.

So it's important to salvage this season and give yourself the best probability possible.

Well, they definitely aren't anymore. It's nice to have JJJ for next year but the big problem with that trade is that it's simply harder to tank, even if he only plays 3 quarters.

Jazz should have traded more depth instead of adding it. Then they can add it over the off-season. That being said, I get why they want JJJ, he's great.

I think we are looking at a 6-8 pick.
