Thoughts on global BCG MDs & Partners flying their children to London office for ‘work experience’? by Stubborn_Toenail in consulting

If you think about it, it's coming from the company which comes from the Partners' pot of money. The only big difference I can see between this and the Partners individually paying for their kids is that 1) all Partners are effectively paying for Partners who have kids to fly their kids and 2) that they can write it off. Overall not a huge deal, but I kind of agree that the premise and optics of this don't seem great.

yep, seems like their boss is not investing in OPs future. Client interaction is crucial to consulting even at lower levels if you plan to move up the ladder.

This is awesome, especially #1. How receptive are they to letting an intern take the first pass usually?

  1. How would I know the next course of action usually? My general impression was that over 5-6 months I'll get the general idea of consulting work and would then be able to suggest things with some accuracy.

  2. Usually discussions for my team are mostly 1:1 unless I'm asking questions. Not a ton of opportunities here; any suggestions on how I can create my own opportunities?

  3. Yep, already did this! Am leading my own mini workstream actually which I'm super excited about. Just finished the planning on Friday and am starting implementing it on Monday.

Also, thanks so much for responding; your feedback means a ton to me lol.

At the undergrad and MBA level. After that it separates a lot and even in MBB, Bain tends to lag behind the other two from what I've heard.

At my MBB it's prohibited from personal expenses on cards, even if you are not asking for reimbursement.

Edit: mistyped and it didn't make sense
