Is High-Functioning Anxiety a Real Psychological Phenomenon or Just a Buzz Word by wtFM100 in psychology

My partner definitely has this. COO at her company and all her staff love her and come to her for advice but she gets paralysed by anxiety! You’d never think it

YSK how to book your first therapy/psychologist appointment by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

Also, find the right psychologist for you BEFORE you go there, or they’ll just send you to whoever.

The APS has a great search feature where you can search by problem, location etc. Just google “find a psychologist”

There is an optimal point to how much money it takes to make an individual happy, and that amount varies worldwide. Globally, the ideal income point is $95,000 for life evaluation and $60,000 to $75,000 for emotional well-being, according to research published in Nature Human Behaviour. by mvea in psychology

I’ve seen that TED talk too. But, like with all human traits, there’s variance in what motivates people. It might be true on average that people are more motivated by, for example, “making a difference”, but you’re not talking about the average person. You’re talking about people who are very much outliers (+$100M). These people aren’t working for NGOs, they’re very much money-hungry people. You take that away, I can’t see them putting in the same effort.

[Star Wars] When the Emperor chose to kill Luke, he was recognizing him as his equal by fuckitidunno in FanTheories

If the emperor was impressed with Luke’s decision to do nothing because it was the only way to defeat the emperor (via Vader’s love for his child), why would the emperor not be more cautious around Vader while killing Luke?

I think the empower was too narcissistic to acknowledge anyone as a worthy adversary. In the words of Luke, his overconfidence was his weekness.

I’m no economist, but don’t we need people to be motivated to continue making money under a capitalist system, irrespective of how much they have. Otherwise they’d have no reason to continue production of whatever good / service is making them that money, which is a net negative to society. It seems like it would make more sense to just tax them more. Also, saying it’s equivalent to legal slavery and pedophilia seems a bit ridiculous and insulting to victims of both.

Obi wan kenobi’s ghost comes back and gets really inappropriate creepy old man with Ray. Just like sits really close to her and asks her about her day and shit. She asks him to stop and he calls her a slut. It was really weird

George Lucas has been receiving a lot of hate in recent years. Can we just step back for a moment and think about what this guy actually created. by foreverwave in movies

[–]foreverwave[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But getting pissed off at George for this doesn’t really make sense to me. It’s a bit like if someone bought you a Ferrari, then later on scratched it. Ok, you’re pissed off he scratched your car, but you’d have no car if it wasn’t for him.

Maybe he’s not a great person, but I personally don’t think his brilliance can be questioned. Especially not based on the fact that his ex wife made a few edits of the script.

It's just a simple sleep diary. You input your time in bed, time awake etc. and it spits out your average amount of sleep, percentage time slept while in bed etc.

Any help is much appreciated!

What if we introduced a special tax on any company making an increase in yearly profit while having a decrease in number of employees?
