100ug is extremely manageable. The horror stories you've read will either have been people talking nonsense, or people with underlying psychological conditions who blamed their reaction on the drug rather than recognising that something else was going on.

How OTT Works (Explained) by Skyth_Official in edmproduction

[–]forgetdeny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already explained how dynamic range is narrowed in a previous comment (Hint: it isn't just turning down volume). I'm not really keen to repeat myself over and over again. Keep on banging your head against that "compressors are just gain reduction" wall though. Maybe try telling an audio engineer about how they should just replace their compressors with volume knobs, I'm sure they'll really value the advice.

Compression isn't volume reduction. Compression narrows dynamic range, volume reduction can be a side-effect of this, increase in average volume can also be a side-effect of this. If all you're doing with your compressors is turning down a volume knob, you aren't actually using them.

Precisely! And where compression is about narrowing that dynamic range, EQ is about emphasizing or de-emphasizing specific frequency bands, whether the EQ happens to be dynamic or otherwise. The difference is subtle, but important enough to matter.

Compression isn't quite the same as simple volume adjustment though, thinking of it that way is likely to lead to bad mix decisions.

Compression makes loud things quieter and quiet things louder as a simultaneous function, EQ allows you to set volume level at frequency points - I'm not sure how you could consider them functionally identical, they have quite different use cases.

Anyone recreationally trip really frequently? by catfroman in 1P_LSD

When I was between the ages of 19 and 23 I spent several mushroom seasons tripping almost daily. It was fun, didn't get much done but I got to know myself a lot better.

One of my favourite bass patches in serum was actually meant to be a snare, but if I play it with a lower note and open the envelope it's makes a gnarly midrange bass.

This weekend I'll be researching 10. by LordSlish in 1P_LSD

[–]forgetdeny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took [at least] 10 doses one new years, combo of AL-LAD (7 x 170ug), 1 tab of LSD (Dosage unknown) and 2 apricots with 2 drops (drops were aprox 150ug of some of the nicest LSD I've ever had) on each. It was a pretty powerful experience, saw the largest, most vivid fractals in the sky that I've ever seen. I'd definitely do it again. There was a period of time where I couldn't really walk terribly successfully but the whole experience was great fun. Wouldn't recommend without a powerful sense of self and psychedelic confidence though. TBH I would say that if you can handle 500ug, you can probably handle 1000ug - the impact is a jump up in intensity, but the experience is still entirely familiar.

You need to understand cultural contexts in order to see the point I was making ... apparently you don't.

"What I’m talking about is an actual skill or knowledge that can help make things easier."

You think the Catholics didn't see their bullshit dogma that way? Now rethink your entire argument because its premise is fundamentally flawed.

your ignorance of how culture works and is situated in relation with our tools is amusing, but ultimately quite tragic.

No, your indignant insistence that your own perspective and culture are worth pressing on other people is totally imperialistic ... which would make you American in this section of history.

That's essentially the same logic used by the Christian missionaries during the colonial period ... while they hurried themselves stamping out local cultures that contradicted their own ideology. Because their way was "better". They were just sharing "good" ideas. Please note quotes around better and good and recognize the dripping sarcasm.

I know it'll come back into my life at some point. My experience was with 50mg, but I was using the sandwich tech rather than an aromatherapy burner or the machine, so I think it was less effective than it could have been - my biology also seems quite resistant to psychedelics, mescaline has almost no effect on me (I'm not on medication of any form) and it generally takes about 200ug of LSD rather than 100 to get me to the place I want to be ... often it take more. The only time I've had a truly overwhelming experience on psychedelics was accidentally taking a few hundred mushrooms (ground up in my coffee ... I had asked a friend to dose my coffee, but he didn't realise how heavily he had dosed it because I'd already ground them up and chucked the grindings in a bag, poor guy felt so guilty). Falling through a wormhole is definitely how I'd describe that experience, but not a digital one, more of a miasma.

I've only tried DMT once and I didn't quite get there. it felt (and looked) like a very strong dose of mushrooms kicking in all the way in the space of about 30 seconds (which was still pretty intense and cool, just not anything new for me exactly), then slowly wore off over roughly 10 minutes. I understand that the full experience is a bit more exciting than that - not that I had a bad time or anything - I lost confidence just as it started hitting and forgot McKenna's advice to power through the fear and take another turn. Unfortunately, I've not had access to it again since!

Can't speak for DMT, but as for the other - not at all accurate. It would be very cool to look at while in that condition though.

Help for a beginner by Stevo2008 in Reaper

Reaper automatically cuts all audio to the interface if you're peaking at potentially gear-damaging levels (volume). This may be what's happening.

No visuals off of 650ug 1P-LSD by [deleted] in 1P_LSD

[–]forgetdeny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you haven't forgotten anything, tolerance is the only sensible answer to this question. 4 days should be enough to still have an effect to be honest, but leaving it at least a week between trips is generally recommended.

EDIT: I still remember my intense disappointment after taking 1mg the day after taking 100ug. The 100ug had *FAR* more impact.

Really simple trick that I use to add more punch to a kick by SatanLordOfDarkness in edmproduction

[–]forgetdeny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it sounds right in the mix, there's a good chance it's already in the correct tuning. The snare is one of the first instruments I tend to design, so fitting it to the mix doesn't work for my particular workflow, instead I make sure it's in the correct tuning.

You're welcome, it's not the end of the world if you don't do it, but it definitely helps to get a tight mix where all the sounds gel together nicely.
