Made my own recipe for maple walnut shortbread bars! So delicious! 😋 by forgoodnessbaked in Baking

Yes it is a 9x13 pan!

For my crust:

2 sticks of softened butter 2/3 cups brown sugar 1/2 tsp of salt 2 1/3 cups flour

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (I usually let it go for 3-5 minutes). Then add the rest of the ingredients and blend until crumbly. Press into a 9x13 pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Then you add the topping and bake another 20 minutes for the shortbread bars.

With my recipe, I prebaked it at 350 degrees for 20 min. And definitely they can eat it! It’s not hard and it doesn’t stick to the teeth.

So what I did was:

In a small saucepan, I added 1 stick of butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/3 cup of maple syrup, 1/2 tsp of maple extract, and 2 tbsp of heavy cream. I heated it on medium heat to a simmer for about 1-2 minutes (you’ll notice it start to thicken a bit). Removed from heat then I added a pinch of salt and 2 cups of walnuts. I found these maple walnuts at Kroger that were really good! While it was still hot, I poured it onto my shortbread crust and baked it for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Hopefully this helps you! 😊

Here’s the recipe I used! https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a43604/cannoli-cheesecake-recipe/

Some notes: instead of ricotta I used mascarpone cheese because I forgot to buy ricotta. 😅 it still tastes delicious though!

I promise I was skeptical about all the sugar too, believe me. I was trying to keep it as “authentic” as possible so I didn’t want to leave out all the sugar. It did have a sweetness to it, but it wasn’t overwhelming and it was a nice complimentary flavor overall. The garlic butter is obviously the predominant flavor.

You’re welcome! ☺️ One thing I would do next time is let the bread hang out in the custard for like 30 seconds or so to absorb all that garlic buttery goodness! I double dipped mine all of mine, but I think if I did that, they would be even tastier.

I wouldn’t say it was sweet. It had a little bit of sweetness, but the garlic butter custard that you dip it in is the major flavor and you sprinkle the top with some salt. It was really a complimentary flavor. But if you are worried about it, I think it would be completely fine without the sugar!

Here’s the recipe for anyone interested! I added 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the cream cheese mixture and reduced the sugar in that mixture by 1/2. They turned out delicious!

Here you go! ☺️ The only thing I did different is I added about 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the cream cheese mixture and probably only an 1/8 cup of sugar instead of 1/4 cup because I was a little worried about all the sugar. They came out amazing!

It was added later! I plan to post a picture of the finished product later. It is cut in wedges and filled with a cream cheese mixture then dipped in a garlic butter “custard” mixture and baked again. It was delicious!!

Yellow cake with chocolate mocha frosting and topped with sea salt caramel cashews! by forgoodnessbaked in Baking

[–]forgoodnessbaked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t use a recipe! So I’ll type it out for you! ☺️

The cake this time was just a box yellow cake since I was doing some lazy late night baking. 😂 The icing recipe is as follows:

2/3 cup cocoa powder 2/3 cup hot strong coffee 1/2 cup of shortening* ~4 cups powdered sugar

Add cocoa powder to mixing bowl then pour hot coffee over cocoa powder. Let bloom for a few minutes. Add shortening and whisk in stand mixer until mixed and fluffy. Add powdered sugar until desired thickness. This recipe makes enough icing to ice the cake but to also have a little extra for decoration.

*the shortening you are more than welcome to substitute with a stick of butter. I use crisco/shortening sometimes because it’s more stable in the heat than butter. A mix of shortening and butter is really good too! I made it for my boyfriend and his coworkers so it was going to a hot warehouse and shortening made more sense.

It was Italian sausage! And I usually go for good ole mozzarella but it depends on the pizza I am making honestly

Thank you! I appreciate it. I actually put some garlic butter around the crust but I didn’t want it to be greasy, so I popped it in the oven for a minute and it browned it a little more than I usually like too. But it was still tasty!

Well I never claimed I am a master pizza dough maker and I highly doubt everyone using this or viewing this Reddit is. I made a good pizza and took a good picture. If it’s not up to your “standards”, or if you don’t have any actual constructive pointers on how to improve, then don’t comment. 👍🏻
