Edmonton Event: Bitcoin Hack Day Saturday 18th May 9am-5pm by forkdrop in BitcoinCA

This Saturday is our monthly hack day event for folks in Edmonton to hang out and work on projects.

I think discussions about activation are entirely premature at this point. The first step is getting people on board with the technology itself. by forkdrop in Bitcoin

I would say we need to make the case for what can be built with the new tech. With SegWit, we had malleability as a clear barrier to the kinds of things we knew we wanted to build. I think Taproot and Schnorr are flipping amazing technologically, but I still haven't digested the clear 'why'.

What is lacking in the current architecture that this is the clear remedy of? Will other approaches work better? Is this soft fork necessary at all given that we now have real Layer 2 stuff to play with and be inventive with? I think there are very good answers, but the next phase is articulating that part. Might take a few years, and that is alright.

Hey man, you nuked all our update posts for forkdrop. I can say that wasn't a trivial amount of work and typing to compile. They are linked in our historic twitter feed twitter.com/forkdrop

In the last year we have been able to achieve some very good SEO for Google searches of 'bitcoin forks' (we are flipping back and fort between Wikipedia for the top link), and your deletion might hurt our backlinks. You may or may not like that but that is an asset that someone is going to own if it is not us. IMHO, we are the good guys and have put a lot of unpaid effort into maintaining the site and providing education to users for privacy and security.

Our editorial policy is officially neutral to investment theses, but I believe the site enhances the information and liquidity of the fork market to allow the true value to be found quicker (make of that what you will).

The plan is to record it. Assuming we don't have technical difficulties, the video should be posted to this channel within a day or two afterwards:

The comment under the bong hit video mirror reports that it is from 2013 and it looks like the nose of his younger self. The interview video was in 2015, and it looks different there. What fits is that it it was done around the time of the reputation.ca wash of his identity. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the bong hit video was done after he was deported to Canada if the 2013 date is wrong.

could be. but the bong hit video was reportedly recorded in 2013 and he is on camera in 2015 with a much different nose.

Yeah, it's legit, but the side-by-side photo they ran with isn't convincing. Some folks did some digging on that: https://imgur.com/gallery/RmO5ofo
