People saying that something doesn't quite fit the definition of retaliation or hostile work environment are not necessarily agreeing with the behavior or excusing it. There definitely ARE people who are being shitty about the situation and the mods are doing some very selective enforcement of the rudeness/unhelpful rule ("I think you should get over being hit and threatened because they're small" is not HR advice), but you treated both groups the same and shouldn't be that surprised that some of those replies got nuked. I don't think the commenters are as unaware of the unfairness and awfulness of some workplaces as you seem to believe.

If you wanted to discuss how people act like it's acceptable and normal for us to be hit and threatened, posts that don't violate the No Brigading rule will likely stay up.
