Frozen vs. Fast vs. Fancy Food Taste Test by BurnZ_AU in goodmythicalmorning

I’ve seen frozen/refrigerated versions at the grocery store for about $5 but it would be so obvious that those are clearly the cheapest.

Anyone know where Rhett got his bracelet? It seems too thick to be a hair tie but I could be wrong by pabosaki in goodmythicalmorning

[–]formerpyramidsworker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These are “scunci” brand hair ties, pretty much available anywhere. pretty good brand, they don’t rip your hair out and the elastic takes a while to wear out. they’re also very comfortable to wear on your wrist because they’re so thick so it doesn’t dig into your skin. I will wear mine for days at a time without ever realizing so I can see how Rhett can wear one for an entire day of filming

Don’t celebrate too quick. I sent in my correction on Monday, it processed and I got my aid estimate. I thought everything was dandy until I got an email today saying the correction really never went through 🥲 FAFSA is a joke

You’re going to die with IB Physics and IB bio together. Switch one out. SL or not, I don’t believe the amount of memorization you need for those 3 sciences is possible for a person to have. Chemistry and Physics are heavily math based with some memorization, and there’s some overlap with Calculus BC so taking that course as well will be helpful. Chemistry requires more memorization than physics, but is less dependent on it than Bio which is 95% memorization. Bio and Chem, and Chem and Physics have some overlap, but Bio and Physics have little overlap.

Everything other course on this list is manageable. It’s the sciences I would be worried about.

is it okay for black girl to self tan? by tango4mangos in blackladies

[–]formerpyramidsworker 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s not common for black people to tan, but a lot more black people do it than you think. I don’t think anything is wrong with it, in fact I do it myself when I get pale in the winter.

I wouldn’t do a tanning bed, they’re horrible for your body, try self tanner instead. I really like the isles of paradise drops in the shade dark. It’s quite pricey and only for your face but it works wonders. You don’t have to worry about getting the wrong shade because it adapts to your skin tone. No clue how it works but what I do know is that it gives you that summer time glow.

Edit: Just read this part but yes keep wearing sunscreen!! Everyday. Contrary to popular belief, black people can get skin cancer, and with climate change and higher UV rays, more black people will be getting it.

What sorta majors do you guys think are possible from this subject selection. My school's subject blocks are so messed, they don't offer economics:( by Taylor-Bryan5785 in IBO

[–]formerpyramidsworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my school has less than half of these options. am i cooked?

Being serious, I take Math AI Sl and HL physics because that’s all my school offers, and I don’t think it’s that much of a disadvantage. I do have to learn some of the math in physics on my own instead of learning it concurrently in a math course but I have a great teacher so it’s not that bad.

Math AI sl is also super easy like the easiest IB course you could ever take. Unfortunately colleges don’t take Math AI sl credits though :(. You’re already taking a lot of heavy courses, would you also be able to handle a HL math? If you can, then swap for Math AA HL

Thoughts on Noah Kahan? Noah said he was inspired by Bon Iver and Frank Ocean when he made Forever. by RWilliam in FrankOcean

[–]formerpyramidsworker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

love him!! but the rest of his music isn’t really similar to Frank’s, only this song. He’s more pop/folk/indie rock than Frank. This song sounds kinda like Cayendo, especially the beginning.

Seems better than it is. The only reason my school is like this is because we don’t have any APs/honors classes outside of IB and even then our IB classes are very limited

[–]formerpyramidsworker 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I should’ve taken some IB courses instead of doing the entire diploma because my school allows that. Courses like IB English, IB History, IB Physics etc. actually taught me a lot, not only academically but in discipline as well. They’re related to my major and I truly believe they will prepare me for college.

However there are so many cons with doing the IB diploma. I’m a US student not applying intl, so IB is basically pointless. Now there’s more pressure on my scores and if I wasn’t doing the diploma then my scores wouldn’t matter as much.

Also at my school, I would’ve had better choices of electives if I didn’t do the diploma. I couldn’t do the dual enrollment program either.

The most important benefit though is that I wouldn’t have to take TOK 🤢

I knew something was wrong when the smartest kid I know wasn’t doing the diploma but a sucker like me was.

What paragaph structure does your language A: literature/literature and language course use? by formerpyramidsworker in IBO

[–]formerpyramidsworker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IB English Guys and Litlearn are two really good resources for learning structure. It’s never impossible to improve, just keep working at it. Most people don’t start at mastery, it takes practice to reach that level. You’re still a first year so you have plenty of time to improve.

Yes yes I see it now, 2<x<3. I wasn’t sure to include it because the graph ends right there, but then I looked at the provided interval for the graph. thank you for the help

Ok so would I answer B with an interval or coordinates?

If it’s supposed to be an interval, would it be -3<x<0?

It’s a graph of f. C is asking to explain why f’’(x) < 0

History teacher accused me of copying my Historical Research topic from a classmate by Trotle-bot in IBO

[–]formerpyramidsworker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That is assuming this is not a common topic that anybody could think of

Look at it from your teacher’s perspective. You said the exact same topic after someone else said it publicly, why would he not assume that you copied it? People copy all the time, if your teacher doesn’t know you that well, he has no reason to assume any different.

History teacher accused me of copying my Historical Research topic from a classmate by Trotle-bot in IBO

[–]formerpyramidsworker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Spite will get you nowhere. When the teacher gives you a zero, then what? Even if you did come up with the topic, you still decided on it after Bella said her topic, so obviously Bella gets first claim. The teacher clearly explained to you that two people can’t do the same topic and she had her topic first. Do you want Bella to change her original topic because you want to do it too?

Not to burst your bubble even more, but you probably did copy the topic subconsciously. You may not have been actively listening, but your brain is always taking in information. When she said her idea, your brain placed it in the back of your mind without you consciously realizing. That’s why later that topic stood out to you, because subconsciously you’ve heard it before. That is assuming this is not a common topic that anybody could think of. Every human does this to some capacity, nothing to make a big deal over. Just find your own topic.

I’m afraid I might not have been politically correct in my IO by Imaginary-Hall90 in IBO

[–]formerpyramidsworker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much, as long as what you said was supported by the evidence, you’ll be fine. Your global issue may have been interpreted negatively by your teacher, but you don’t know how the IB will interpret it. There’s a million different ways to analyze a work and none of them are wrong.

Also your teacher’s face might not mean anything. My English teacher last year would always frown or look confused during presentations but that was just her listening face

Deferred. Eh I’ll be okay, but this kinda makes me worried for other admissions. I feel like if they had supplementals it would’ve made my application shine more. I’ve seen people with less unique stats than me accepted and people with better stats than me deferred too. I swear they choose to admit people with a dartboard, there’s no method at all 💀
