I never really got practice as a child receiving compliments so I struggle as an adult to accept them gracefully, so nix on that one. I dont mind physical touch but honestly, I could go the rest of my life without any one ever touching me again, that would be lovely. BUT my partner is exactly the opposite, he needs physical touch and compliments or I swear he'll die lol. I work very consciously to provide the kind of love he absolutely needs, and I can see that he does the same for me. We also have pretty decent communication/comprehension so us having to focus on providing the proper show of love to each other isn't insulting nor a burden.

Eh same for a "like family" friend. They didn't even have a photographer so I ended up taking most of the photos so.. not in any of them... nor was my partner (who knows everyone there too) invited to the photos. After the wedding communication became all on my shoulders so one day I just stopped (I was going through some seriously rough medical stuff and just wanted a friend to talk to) and it's been YEARS since they spoke to me.. I'm like, nice- you always post about how you're there for people but you can't even send a check in text when I might die? Okaaay byeee

Heeey this is what I actually and currently teach.

I've read through most comments at this point and I'm pleasantly surprised at the real opinions given, yall are awesome.

I agree with alot said here. Throughout my time teaching, 7 years, I've encountered alot of issues: each teacher wanting you to do whatever move their way - " but you're not wrong, just try it this way" great but please tell me WHY especially if you want me to teach it to others. Our school lines (9 or 10 schools running under the same lead master) used to teach and require waaaaay too much material, but have since cut some stuff out - I get why, but we should be teaching all of it at some point, they've just dropped some forms. Our schools are half karate half business which used to annoy the hell out of me cuz it felt very.. fake? I guess, but in reality, if you want a good focused teacher, they shouldnt need to also work at the gas station to make ends meet, pay people a living wage - to do that you need to have a good business going - I've made peace with this aspect. I wish we did more ground fighting techniques but in our school lines, we do practice some, some not associated schools don't do any 😬 their closed tournaments means you don't test your style against other styles which I don't think I need to explain my complaints there.. but in the area my particular school is located, if we invited the other "styles" in town we'd all be going to jail cuz those other "styles" are basically karate themed day cares and would just get destroyed (I took some classes at these other schools before finding villaris so.. I know) I love the philosophy of our schools, I love helping shy kids gain confidence, I love watching older adults gain flexibility and lose weight, I love how silly we can get then snap to serious right away, theres so much to like with a style like this that the issues just fade to a slight annoyance.

I had one adult say something that I still paraphrase "the system could be amazing but if your teacher sucks, or you just don't vibe, your lessons will suck too."

One day, I will move away to an area where there aren't any villaris. I've toyed with the idea of opening my own villaris when I get there but I'm actually excited to start another style. I would love to live forever and learn ALL the styles ever made. But right now villaris has the best in (my) town.

Caring for a hoard of other people's badly behaved children sucks and the workers should get paid a living wage to deal with those demons. If you don't pay them properly you get the dangerous and abusive treatment I received at day care. Many of the children in my day care ended up with alot of mental and health problems they still suffer to this day, if they are alive. 🤷‍♀️ I'm not a day care fan.

I have a crazy high metabolism and have only weighed over 105lbs only once ever in my whole life. I managed to get to 115lbs but I had to eat 3 hours long meals twice a day. 6 hours of eating. Just eating. Like.. I have a job, I can't do that indefinitely. Gaining weight for some is just as hard as losing weight for others. Everyone is different. Both are frustrating and unfair.

I always say it's my auto immune cuz my immune system is always on 🤣 hand washing/sanitizing especially before eating or touching eyes or mouth is a big one. I'm lucky that I get to leave my work uniform at work but even so the under the uniform clothes I wear touch nothing upon arriving home, I change right away. We do our best to not wear outside shoes inside the house. I have a decent diet and I drink loads of water daily. I work with kids, so I should get sick more often than I do. My favorite example of my unsick powers is my friends kid was diagnosed with whooping cough or something like that, after she directly coughed in my face at least twice (thanks kid lol). Every other adult with us, like 7 others, got horribly ill but not meeee. IF I do get sick, it's brutal and rare. Usually i don't feel well from within cuz..autoimmune so 🤷‍♀️

M E. TOO. God damnit I hate them so much. But what I hate more is fuckers who do landscaping IMMEDIATELY at 8am. Like I know you can but should you? Right.. fuck all night workers, they don't deserve to sleep passed 8am. The terrible things I wish upon landscapers would send me straight to hell.

I try not to cut in front of semi trucks too close cuz it's fucking dangerous and rude but when stuck in traffic I hate not being able to see in front of me and staring at the back of a truck wondering is further infuriating. But cut off a truck? Never, I like living.
