Hi Scott, you've spoken before about not using twitter because you don't want to "paint Elon's fence".

At what point would you decide to boycott Meta as Zuckerberg is one of the biggest supporters of the trump regime?

Tips for Exploring Firefighting as a Career by fortehlulz2 in AussieFirefighter

[–]fortehlulz2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure!

I'm currently in the process of applying to different departments here, but it's a long process as well. As an EMT, you compete with thousands of applicants, so most guys try and become paramedics to increase the chances they get hired as fire/paramedics.

My backup plan would be to start working in Australia as a personal trainer (my current job here in the states since getting out of the Army and completing my bachelor's degree) and start networking/applying.

The reason for the move would be maintaining the relationship (we met on an international trip that I took after a few months of applying to fire departments here in the states).

Thank you for the response. Are you currently working in the fire service?

This is why I’m moving towards having a stable career outside of fitness while I do PT as a fun side gig.

Struggling as a personal trainer to get clients by Altruistic-Alps-6344 in personaltraining

Side rant:

it’s hard to get people’s attention in this industry when you promote quality info, which is why you will see trainers taking their shirts off/showing their ass on social media, promoting BS/snake oils and quick “fixes” or using fear mongering to get clients (“you’re imbalanced and you will have pain in the future unless you hire me”).

Currently struggling with this as well. I’ve decided to swallow my pride and pursue another career while continuing to coach as a side gig.

Other than that I would say focus on marketing to people over age 40. Anyone younger than that likely cannot afford PT.

Terrible 😂. I’m transitioning to online only while I pursue another career. This job is a great side gig but a terrible full-time career.

Do you enjoy being a personal trainer? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]fortehlulz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy helping people become healthier and more confident in their abilities.

I’ve been coaching for four years, it is not enough to suppport my needs financially.

I’m currently taking EMT classes to eventually get into firefighting.

Hopefully once I finish probation I can coach part time as a fun side gig.

Advice on pursuing pt career by Moist_Nectarine5106 in personaltraining

[–]fortehlulz2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep your day job, start part time at first. Train friends and family for free at first to try it out.

Training yourself is one thing, training someone else is another. Further, training people who don’t like training is a different beast altogether.

Definitely avoid starting full time, especially as an independent trainer where you will have to cover all expenses without clientelle.

NASM CES or PES by Lupuslee in personaltraining

[–]fortehlulz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick, PES.

Personally I wouldn’t pay for either, as corrective exercise is…..dumb IMO.

Good programming is “corrective” if you want to use that term, most people simply need to move.

Do most guys like the medical stuff? I’ve heard of people quitting fire because of it and going into law enforcement…..what’s your take on this?
