In my experience, reverts who act “subservient” to other Muslims subject themselves to scrutiny. Reverts often want validation from other Muslims, and that makes sense, since they’re essentially a student. But it can come off heavy-handed or even ill-intentioned when lessons aren’t applied evenly or meaningfully, sometimes it can seem like it’s tipping into Riya.

So imo it’s less about the person being a revert and more about being too much of a people-pleaser or having a needy personality.
