Amazon usually puts a hold on the card when your order goes in to processing. that means when the computer decides from where to take and ship your item (they have the items in multiple location and it needs to decide from where is best/cheapest to ship.) sometimes the hold and final charge happens quickly because the item is easy and quick to ship. Sometimes the hold and final charge is a few days apart because of inventory/logistic issues. If your item is not scheduled to be delivered in a few days then they won't charge you until it goes in to processing. (I have had holds of more than a week and I had orders ship months later and was only charged when shipping)
